Well, the engineer should be for vehicles, with their whole squad to back them up in case of a firefight. Do you go engineer when assaulting?

Unfortunately alot of the time I do. As nice as the ideal situation is with the engineer somewhere safely defended by assault troops it just doesn't happen when you are the only one willing to go engineer on the infantry maps like Belgrade. As essential as 1 or 2 engineers are on those maps, they rarely have the option of staying out of harms way.

Re: Ban for Knife Kills? Before you call me crazy, please read.
I have quite literally gone through the VOss, the pistol, and been left with a knife. 9 out of 10 times, unless your sneaking up on a sniper...your going to die horribly. But it really does come down to critical seconds of reloading. I can get 3 or 4 people with bursts from my Voss, maybe 2 more with a pistol...but the reload time on my main is just too long in the hairy furballs my squads drag me into! And let's be honest, ther is something satisfying about catching the sniper who has been pot shotting you for the last 2 rounds unaware and knifing him. Makes you feel a little better. But those are rare situatuions. I might get a knife kill once a weekend on a real good night. I agree, I do not think we need a specific rule AT THIS TIME...as these knife fighting idiots ussually are very easy to blast with a rifle. I think we should take a wait and see attitude. By all means if my squad mate and another engage in a knife fight...I aim for the bad guy and gun him down. If my squadie gets hit, tough, I'll revive him later. If he punishes me, or whines about me stealing a knife kill...he's gone. End of story.

Of course, the whole squad isn't always there and if they are, half of them are trying to knife instead of cover their teammates.

Well, mabey not the whole squad, but any SL should know to guard the engi with another kit. Anyway, back to knifing. I think it is all said in the above article I linked, since we have already had a 55 post discussion on it. It is silly and should only be used as a last resort when your primary and secondary are out of ammo, or in extreme stealth circumstances.

If you're assault and it comes to one of those "knife scenarios" do yourself a favor. Keep the knife in your sheath and pull out the defibrillator; it has 3 times the range of the knife and the same instant kill.

I went in to revive a teammate once, not realizing there was an enemy laying on their body camping it. +1 Kill and then +1 revive for me.

I ran to go revive a dead soilder once, when I got there an enemy medic was crouching over to the corpse. I soon realize that the enemy medic was reviving one of his comrades. He didn't notice me, and since I already had my defib out, I just zapped him. I look down to see that he revived his buddy before he died, so I zapped the freshly revived enemy. +2 Defib kills.

Yeah, and I found out that knifing is safer for your teammates in Titan mode, especially during Silo capture, tight corner makes TK a likely accident. Too bad they don't reward people for shock paddle kills. I play medic most of the time. In the heat of battle while trying to revive teammates I also collect a health amount of kills from the paddle. Paddle is even better than the knife since it has a reticle and fire more rapidly. |
