Just settle on a compromise with a gun that shoots knives. Reach out and stab someone.

That would be entertaining, but sounds much like the Nailgun from Quake 1. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

The fact that BF2142 gives badges for knife kills, is anyone surprised to see people trying to get knife kills? This whole game revolves around gaining points and getting pins, ribbons, medals, ranks, unlocks, and badges. Kinda hypocritical to critize someone for going after a badge when that's what everyone does.

Everyone?! That is pretty bold. I have not once logged into 2142 or bf2 and thought, I am going to get my knife badge today. I am going to get my pistol badge today.

*shrug* Add in the fact that most of the time this tactic hurts your teammates, badge hunting is probably better served on a different server.

There are those in our community that will have nothing to do with BF2142, because they believe it detracts from the concepts that we play by here at TG, or that BF 2142 is a reskinned BF2. A game which they will not pay another $49 for. This is an old argument, one which we hashed out long ago. I will be the first to admit that I do not think EA should have made stat aquisition, and badge collecting MANDATORY for unlocks. Nor should you be FORCED to connect to EA RANKED server if you wish to get the full benefits of the game.

That being said what's done is done. I think we in the TG-2142 community have done an excellent job in turning a lemon into lemonade!! We have drawn in "TG way of life" people, made strong contributions to the supporting member base, and showed the public at large what the game can really be. We have a "family" here and we are constantly adding to it, and we still maintain ties to other siblings from the old games. I don't think Bane II was insinuating that we log into the game for "stat whoring", he was actually just agreeing with "Rewarding knifeing with a badge, will undoubtly bring out people who will seek the badge just for it's own sake." I do not belive there are any TGers here who log-in during prime time, just for a knife badge, Titan badge, etc. Don't take it to heart.

Bommando closes threads when they start causing division within the community, or they are obviously threads about smacktard behavior. Rest assurred he monitors the thread, and when we start beating a dead horse...he'll close it. Probably with a big ol' ban-hammer too!

As to the "bayonets", LOL hell yeah!! I think I may have even used that line with my squad not long ago! We were done as a team, and I believe Carramrod's squad was opposing us. Again it was the same situation as above, I knew who we were opposing, we had lost that round and CR's squad had put up a hell of a fight. We decided to go out with some flare, so I said "FIX BAYONETS!", we got out our knives and for the last 10 tickets...charged!! It was hilarious, but, a spur of the moment thing...I apologize if it detracted from someone's gaming enjoyment...but it was funny getting mowed down in a blaze of glory.

Knives are for sleepy snipers.

The other day a guy came charging at me like a rabbit on crack with a knife. He got the Clark to his face as a reward.

Re: Ban for Knife Kills? Before you call me crazy, please read.

I think the original poster was answered, that hunting for knife kills is considered anti-teamwork behaviour and can result in a kick if reported to the admins. If I was SL and someone on my squad was doing so, I would report them. Otherwise, the OP is not against knife kills in general where appropriate.
