Re: 2142 Basic Training Session Discussion

I'm confident enough in my knowledge of gameplay mechanics and 2142 nuances to impart some wisdom. I know next to nothing about commanding, but I can school you kids on just about anything else.

I was thinking it might be a good idea to get a couple "TG BF2-esque" Training sessions going for 2142. FreekyE has volunteered to run the current TGU modules, for those new to TG or just looking for a refresher on basic tactics, in 2142. Everyone is welcome and FreekyE would be able to schedule those modules at his discretion.

What we were hoping for additionally, and hopefully some of our heavier 2142 players would be able to do this, is create a 2142 specific Training Session. The question though is, what would you like to learn about that is specific to 2142? We have a wealth of tremendous people and players here who can really help people in these sessions, but we need to know what specifically you would want to learn about!

So, In short:
1) Would you like to and be willing to be involved in these type of training sessions?
2) What, specific to 2142, would you like info/practice on?

Have at it!
Just to give you an idea of some of things we covered in our Irregulars BF2 /POE2 / TACMOD practices (some of these would be great with 2142):

- Armor drills: Effective use of armor, anti-armor tactics, armor team (driver/engie) tactics and communications.

- Basic/advanced squad movement/formations (TGU has some good material/expertise in that area).

- Cover and Concealment.

- Attack/defence techniques.

- Room clearing techniques.

- Kit specific training (I remember sniping was a good one).

- Squad leading.

Yes, I'd absolutely love to be involved. I missed all the TGU sessions for BF2 and POE2 because I wasn't able to play much during those times.

I would love to see some sessions on co-operation between pilots and gunners. I think we did very well in BF2/POE2 attack helicopters, but in BF2142, there are more vehicles where pilot/gunner synergy is important. Each vehicle has different responsibilities for its two-member crew also.

Battlewalkers and gunships need gunners or else they are less than 50% effective, and even tanks need gunners because drivers no longer have machineguns. In each case, each crew member can do something that the other cannot. Increased communication will increase all vehicles' survivability.

Re: 2142 Basic Training Session Discussion

Could I get anyone who would like to teach to PM me with their specialties?

TGU can run modules based on specific needs such as communication and squad leading...the real problem is that we need people to write module content for these classes so that they can be taught more than once.

I will be more than happy to run through our basic training modules for the 2142 community. But, keep in mind that this is infantry tactics only as we do not have vehicle modules written yet (NEED VOLUNTEERS!).

The earliest is reality i can run one will be after new years...so ill start planning one around then.

Also! Keep in mind that I am running a BF2 module session this Saturday evening at 9 pm on the private server. Anyone is invited and nearly everything I teach will be exactly the same as what I teach in the 2142 classes.

Saturday 16th 9PM

Private server "POE" IP: 70.84.146.202

password: "tgu" (lower case, no quotes)

EVERYONE IS INVITED

Please have teamspeak running if possible

Re: 2142 Basic Training Session Discussion

WoW raid is going on at that time and I was really interested in sitting in.

1) Yes I'd love to be a part of this. If we share our knowledge and experience we can only get stronger as a result.

2) I would like to see courses in battlefield acuity and awareness, feint and strike tactics, and situational observation and evaluation.

In other words:
  • What to look for, how to spot it, and the proper reaction.
  • When to give up a doomed assault and try a new approach
  • Just what the hell is going on in the chaos and are you making it worse

Map walkthroughs, including less used paths and defensive/offensive strategies for flags.

1. Yes.

2. I would like to learn specific tactics on conquest maps so I can get up enough nerve to try and command once in a while. And sniping, I SUX0R at sniping. I can snipe better with a frakin' LMG
