    Re: Commanding TG

I command sometimes, but usually I want to shoot things, not orbital strike it. Commanding a squad or two of TG's is enjoyable though. Even if you're still working on your command skills, your squad leaders will help.

    Re: Commanding TG

I'll command 1 out of 3 rounds. Some maps I refuse to command. I'm just no good at them. But most I will. It also depends on whos also playing. If there's a TG player I really like playing with I'll join thier squad. If not I'll command then.

I the past 3 days I commanded over 6 rounds. I do remember you playing Frodric but not SL'ing. You also might have been on the other team to.

    Re: The CO Pledge

I have been commanding alot more. It is fun, and I like it when I see Bommando as commander on the losing side. =)

But, yes if everyone commanded just 1 round a night, this would be a non issue.

    Re: The CO Pledge

I command every once in a while, but I feel like I have a lot more work to do learning to SL effectively before I want to try control multiple of them.

However if there isn't a commander, I will step up when I can.

I think Commanding and being a SL are significantly different jobs. I don't think you need to "understand" or be great at one to be good at the other.

No one should tell anyone to command. You here (even as a admin) to play for fun. Everyone wants to go and shoot people and should be able to. Revark, Me and one other I see command thats TG. It is lacking on a TG scale.

Lets do this. If your TG and you can CO. Do it. Even if you never done it before. Your TG SL's will help you. If a pubbie gives you crap, blow it off. CO'ing with TG at first was tough (Because people really listened) but now that I have 30 some CO hours it's second nature and I know what to do. Remember we are here for fun. If you get your butt whipped, it's a learning curve. At least you stepped up to the plate.

Well, the first time I really tried to SL was when P8triot was too drunk to do it himself, and it seems to have turned out pretty well since. I guess it's just a matter of giving it that first college try.

At the request of Bommando, I suppose I shall take a few more whacks at the CO chair. I can never seems to get a hang of all the buttons in the CO screen and am constantly confused by which buttons on the keyboard talk to who, so I apologize in advance if it takes me forever to get back to you.

But, I shall make one request now that I expect to have fulfilled if I CO - Please talk back to me! I can't see everything that you can, so enlighten me. I tried to save a Camp Gibraltor game earlier this week and told everyone that I had no assets and was operating blind. Nobody told me how badly our last flag was being assaulted and we promptly lost it.

I did 3 turns as CO last night and did ok I think but there was only a few TG on at the time. I did ok but still missing the strategy part sometimes. As an aside, when you do commander what kit do you carry for self/base defense? And should the commander engage recons in the UCB?

I usually go engineer, so not to waste my supplies or grunts on repairing. I rarely leave my CO screen, and engage even less.

    Engineer, for repairs.

I only engageif it's one lonely sniper w/o calling for renforcements. Snipers on foot are easy kill after you do a Sat Scan. If there is more then that I'll lay low and repair the busted objectives myself. No sence in pulling a squad for repairs. If it's a John squad camping objectives then I'll call out for renforcements.

    Re: The CO Pledge

Like I've said earlier, I try to CO. Probably 50% of the time, I'm beat out by some pubbie with a higher rank (Just made SM of the Army today). I have NO problem losing out to a more experienced TGer. Atleast that way I know we are going to have quality Command. With most pubbie CO's, like this afternoon for instance, they just run around fighting, not issuing any orders or giving any feedback to the trrops on the ground (or telling me to attack a flag 20 times in a row, followed immediately by ordering me run to the whole other end of the map for no good reason). Now, I admit I'm no where near a good or great CO, but I think I'm passable, and I atleast try to talk to squads, though I do clam up when I'm trying to do several things at once. Needless to say, I'm trying, and I'm learning. The TG SL make it a much easier learning curve. Now I just have to work on my SL skills (that, I suck at)

If at first you don't succeed, you need more firepower.

There is nothing wrong with feeling something when you shoot your enemies... as long as that something is recoil.

I would like to command more. I will definately give it a try when I get home from work. So if you see [LMS]HaveANiceDay as commander. Cut me some slack and critique, not criticize, me so I can get better at commanding.

    Re: The CO Pledge

I usually CO if there is noone around to do it so I can learn how to do it properly. I feel that last night was probably one of the times I did it right. I probably could've talked a bit less to everyone overall, but sometimes the interface is slightly laggy when selecting the different squads to individually talk to. Besides that assinging orders would work out well and if a squad didn't want an order they would decline it then say they had to deal with stuff at the current zone.

However, I would like to see a guide out about the proper way to CO and be effective such as the best way to move squads and such. I find it a lot easier to work with squads that are consistent where the numbers don't change as people join or leave a squad. As well as, people that drive the vehicles around for fun instead of using them to truly effectively help out a situation.

On TG I rarely see many people switch. I usally do from disconnects and crashes I hear on TS.
