Is it possible that we can play a round before the training? I really want to learn rockets but I have them as a field upgrade.

Someone could always kill themselves and you can pick up thier kit, that is if some is willing to kill themselves.

Since it is on the private server, can't you turn all unlocks on? I read something about making the first tier avaliable, and then all of them, but I may be dreaming.

As far as I know, the article you are referring to is the ability for unranked servers to select between three options (for clan matches, tournaments, and the like).

The first option disables all unlocks completely. The second gives EVERYONE in the server, regardless of current unlocks, all the Tier 1 unlocks. For those who don't know, this means the APM and the RDX for Recon, the Herzog Shotgun and Defibs for Assault, Defuser and EMP Mines for Engineer, and the EMP Mines and the IPS shield for support. I'm not certain if the global unlocks are included, but if it is, then you would be given frag grenades and the squad beacon.

The third option is enable unlocked unlocks. Basically, everyone gets whatever unlocks they have unlocked on that account, as if it were a regular ranked server.
