Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

during this holiday, i've really realize the benefit in a longer load time. Ordinarily I play with a a 10k harddrive, so i'm one of the first loaded, but back here, i've only got about 30 seconds before the game starts... which isn't too bad except that by then most people are in squads already which is... frustrating, when i really want to be on someone's squad.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

I'm fine with it the way it is. I don't make any plans that require more then 30 seconds to explain. Everything more detailed is too rigid and rarely lasts past the first minute of the game.

Also adding time isn't going to make the squads fill up slower.

Where is the compromise? It is already 1:30? A compromise is where we meet somewhere in the middle. So instead of 2:00 like FKD suggested we make it 1:45.

*shrug*

I still vote for an increase.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

I think 30 second more would be fine if it helps get everything coordinated. LOL yeah, I can hear the pubbies complaining now though...

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

If it were me, I would have the timer set at 3 minutes. This would allow everyone to join a squad (the whole musical squad thing), coordinate kits, assign positions, review maps and plan for the next round.

I used to see players complain about the 1:30 timer. I rarely see that now. Most players who play our server now know the score and what we are about.

Yeah, there might be some belly aching over a 2 + timer count but like those who first complained about the 1:30, those players will see the benefit of having time for preparation.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

i wish it was at least 2:00minutes..i think 2:30 would be even better..

sometimes it takes forever for mine to load, and it would be great to have the extra time..

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

I'd go along with the nice round number of 2:00.

Let's face it...the majority of the time, you only need the extra time if you're adjusting kits for the first time.

Yeah, time to plan is all well and good, but how much time do you really need to say "Hold Spawn until I ask" and start working on the communication with the CO once you're in game and he can start shooting out objective orders through the CCC interface?

I think any more than 2:00 is just wasted time staring at an empty spawn map.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

is there a way to differentiate between first and second round timers? Because some extra time on the first round would be great, to deal with the necessities of loading, getting squads set, etc. But the second round, after team swap, most people jump right to the same squad, and the CO usually has a gameplan in mind..that extra time might not be needed at all.

Thumbs up Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

It Seems like we do need more time, as soon as you get everbody into your squad and customize your kits, you have very little time to brief them, or even think about communicating with the commander.
Also adding more time might keep some of the pubbies that just dont care about the tactical part of this game off of the server.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

Hell, I See Yall Talking About 2+ Minutes On The Timer, I Say We Just Cut The Cr_p And Make The Timer 5 Minutes, By Then, The Comander Would Be In Position To Cantact The Squads (hopefully, Not To Many Comanders Lately) Everybody Would Be In A Squad With A Designated Kit And Job And First Objective, (a Medic For "bomando" Always, I Think We All Know How He Gets When He Doesnt Get A Revive ;p) The Entire Team Would Be Able To Coordinate With Each Other To See What Part Of The Map To Attack And Defend, Also We Can Choose Desired Ulock For Specific Kit, Call Shot-gun In The Vehicles, And Most Of All Set Up A Smart Game Plan. But In All In All, I Do Feel That The Time We Have Is Enough, "but" Most Of The Time I Find Myself Rushing Through. 2 Minutes Or 2:15 Would Be Nice

Seriously, is your caps lock key broken or something? I made it less than a sentence into your post before I had to give up. Your period key must be broken as well. /rant

I did give me a headache... I gave up to.

On a serious note, more time would get you a chance to goto a bathroom or get a drink and still have time to get yourself up to speed. Can it get done? /begs

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

I've honestly not really thought about this too much, but as I think about it more, you guys are right. 2:00 would be perfect for loading, joining a squad, and setting up tactics correctly. I think anything over 2:30 might be a little overkill and boring if someone doesn't have VoIP support or a mic.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

Sorry, forgot to add my $.02... a two minute timer would be fine with me as well. gives me time to adjust my kits, listen to or give orders, etc.
