Yea, people have not wanted to squad lead lately. *shrug* Need to start making more Learn TG squads and get the Xmas bunch on the same page as us.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

I personally think you'll lose a lot of people playing on the server if that have to wait that long.

THAT being said, perhaps its the newby pubs who will not wait...

Exactly, so we really loose nothing. People that stay are more likely to be committed to teamwork and the TG way.

Aren't some of these pub noobs future TGers? So you are potentially loosing future SMs. Granted this won't be the case the majority of the time, but it's still a valid concern.

Perhaps, but I am guessing a small percent. People that arent patient enough to wait 2 minutes probably arent patient enough to sit and defend the same base the whole round. *shrug*

Quality Vs Quantity.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

Why do we empty the squads at the end of a round? It makes it very hard for new players like myself to get into the game. Everytime I finally get in a squad with someone willing to help it changes the next round.

2 min is fine. And I agree, emptying the squads every round really sucks.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

I vote yes again. With this many post agreeing with making the time longer i think somebody needs to take action and make it longer already.

Also you guy'ss talking about losing the newbies, i dont think that theyll leave because once they play one round with TG, thats pretty much it, they'll want to keep playing with us.

P.S. im planing in becoming a suporting member OMG!
P.P.S. hows my typing guy'ss, have i got better?

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

I like a longer setup timer....gives time for stategy talk for slow loaders, and gives time for setup/customize work. I freakin hate having to do that.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

The timer when the server first got started was set at 2:00 minutes. The powers that be determined 1:30 was a better compromise than 3 minutes. We still have whiners about the start time, but that's fine, we don't cater to that crowd anyways and they are welcome to leave. I think 2:00 minutes is possible as that is what we used to have. Much more than that though and you really are draging your feet. The timer was put into place for slow loaders and to try and get in a quick battle plan. 1:30 works as well, because Bommando with a slow connection is still able to join, become CO, and issue orders to squads in that amount of time. I'll bring it up to the other admins and see what the say.

Re: Can we INCREASE the setup timer?

I'd prefer 3 minutes.

Here's the breakdown:

10 Seconds for loading (Could be longer depending on your connection).

35 Seconds for musical squads.

25 Seconds for putting items into your kits.

110 Seconds I'll have to use for the real important things: Assigning kits, location assignments, tactics, etc, etc.

Your seconds may vary, but you get the idea. Perhaps add 35 seconds for a beverage run or to the gentlemans room.

It seems to me if you are going to have the set-up timer for 2 minutes why not do it right and go to 3?

It can always be changed and if we get gripes from new players, so be it. If players don't want to take an extra minute to play a better game than we don't need them anyway!
