Lightbulb Reserved and Squad kick scripts

Both the reserved slot and squadless player scripts are just using the default "kicked for teamkilling or low score" kick message. You should really think about adjusting the kick command in the script to include a more descriptive message so people will know why they got kicked. Some people may not notice the message that is displayed in chat before the kick is issued.

This could cause some players to stay away from the server thinking it has abusive admins that kick for no reason.

Re: Reserved and Squad kick scripts

I am not absolutely sure, But the message that displays on the screen after the kick when you are on server browsing window cannot be adjusted that freely. It is very hard to do so.

We do have warning inside the game telling the player that he will be kicked if not joined in a squad in 90 seconds, or that he is being kicked for a Supporting member.

We do everything we can to make sure players are aware of what is going on, but since our server is so different and still ranked it comes as a shock to them sometimes.

Re: Reserved and Squad kick scripts

That is the default message Mugzy, we have tried to change it. It's not possible.

Welcome to TG!

Re: Reserved and Squad kick scripts

I'm not pushing or anything, since I would hate to trade something that works with something that could only possibly work, but what's the status with investigating whether we can use the default supporting member behaviour introduced in the 1.10 patch?

The teamkill kick has been a problem since BF2, and probably saved me, since I came to this board to complain, read the kick script thread and stayed after reading all the rest about what TG is all about.

OT: There's something wierd about having an Avatar from Avatar.

how our scripts work
sounds to me like you were joining on one of the last two slots and thats the one message we cannot alter the wording on.

Squadless kick uses punkbuster kick, I know because I wrote it. Reserved slot does not use punkbuster that is true, but it is for a good reason. The reason is that punkbuster kicks can take more than three minutes to execute and we wan't to free up space as quickly as possible for our supporting members. The servemessage states that the server is full on 48/50 in order to provide a pre warning, frankly I think we have this one covered fairly well.

The 1.10 patch might have broken the ability to display punkbuster messages after the game session exits, we are currently investigating it.

It is still being investigated, but we do not have anything coded. The remote adminprograms(yep, no script here) are a whole lot of work to write. The version we are running now took me close to 150 hours to get to the quality we have today. Jepzilla is looking into the matter but we cannot say when or if we will make the transition.
