Why No 64 Player Server?
HI. I've been wondering as of late, why isn't there a 64 player server for BF2142 conquest? I did a (brief) search of the forums and couldn't find an answer. It seems to me that on most days the 50 player server is always full, so a bump up to 64 might be a good thing (bigger maps, more pubbies to shoot).
Anyway, just thought I'd see if there was a reason why.

I'm not certain what they were thinking on these maps. Armor maps are too big and infantry maps are too small.

Thanks. Question answered. I never knew 64 p could be such a problem. I haven't had much experience playing on them, as I'm mostly here on the 50p server.

This is why I love TG so much (and always give my yearly contribution- shameless plug to invite others to do the same!): TG adjusts to make the best gameplay possible. Reducing to 50 players in 2142 was one of the best moves.

Re: Why No 64 Player Server?
the 64 player maps use a lot more armor, and i think that in general, our server enjoys infantry play a bit more. maybe i'm just saying that because *I* like infantry maps more.
The truth is that the maps where they've made 64p versions, we're already struggling with how big the maps are in the 32p version. If they made a 64p version of Gibraltar or Berlin or even Belgrade, it'd probably do more good than adding some more points in sidi which already feels like a huge map.

Re: Why No 64 Player Server?
It actually encourages more armor to go down that little used side route instead of straight down the road to the first central position. From there you can then spring board a flanking assault onto your opponent's central position and attempt to cut their motor lanes away.
I've learned that if a TG squad can take and hold a point along the opponent's motor lanes they can effectively turn the tide of battle for you. This is because they will cripple or remove the enemy tanks and vehicles from the field as they pass while yours can dominate the field. My sanity is not in question...
