Re: Booster Pack info :
Well lets just hope for the best, that goliath vehicle sounds pretty nice but that hover one, it was a bit vague in explaining it. I liked special forces for bf2, the maps were well done and the vehicles were really cool, lets just hope this one doesnt bomb like the other one... :'(
P.S. who like my new avatar?

After a hard long day on the battlefield, you just wanna play some ball but some idiot wont let you because he has an explosive bag of pitchers' powder....

The thread titled “Booster Pack = Northern Strike” on the EA Forums reveals a few official facts about this topic.

Re: Booster Pack info :
I think using the Titan server is a good one, but I would like to see it as a Titan/Booster mixed server. I am especially looking forward to the city Titan map. I suggested this on the TotalBF2142 forums awhile back, I wonder if they stole my idea?

Re: Booster Pack info :
Nah there was massive complaints of the titan maps being very vehicular. even in beta.
Supposedly the maps were mixed....vehicles until the titan shields down then its an infantry fest i suppose they changed it for this one map.

Re: Booster Pack info :
I guess the question is why did the boosters fail so miserably in the past?
One of the answers is that BF2 was an unranked server that counted pretty heavily on the TG regulars to populate the server and that population wasn't great enough to make-up for the loss of 30-40% of the players on a booster map.
Since BF2142 is a ranked server, would this happen differently (ie.) the ranked server will draw enough non-TG regulars with booster to fill-in for the TG regulards without the packs?|TG-12th| SHINER

Re: Booster Pack info :
i think we'd have enough people playing if we went with the booster pack, but i think all this speculation is pointless before we see what the booster is like. if it's good (hell, if even the MAPS are good) i'd be more than willing to pay the 10 or 20 bucks for it.
ps. where in dallas are you, shiner?

Re: Booster Pack info :
I agree with that. I think other problems were that the boosters were too niche. This isn't like Warcraft III where you only need to find a handful of other players with the expansion. You're looking for 50+ other people to get a game going. Releasing an expansion that was only interesting to people who liked the vehicle heavy/air dominated maps probably wasn't a well thought out plan. It didn't help that (from what I read) The Great Wall was the only map out of both boosters of any real quality.
I'm not sure that it was much better for ranked servers though. I remember players complaining on other forums that Armored Fury had almost disapeared from the ranked servers after about a month. Appearently they were having the same problem with players filling up the servers on vanilla maps and then emptying on booster maps that TG had.

Re: Booster Pack info :
i believe another reason for the boosters failing waz that they were only able to be gotten from EA downloader/EA link. not really able to be bought by everyone. now if they would have been displayed in STORES then i believe they would have been a bigger hit. if you dont see it, how do you know its there???

Re: Booster Pack info :
Because when you loaded up the program there was a big splash screen that said 'Buy our Booster Packs!'. I can certainly see it hurting them that it was not able to be offered from regular retailers, but it's also only $10.00 and I'm sure publishing it would have cut any profit out of it.
Seriously though. I crave the infantry maps like Tunis or Belgrade that don't have single choke points and we have actual options as to where we will go. When Shuhai Taiba or any other armour map pops up, I'm so disappointed. The Dirty

What is the ETA of these boosters?

FROM THE TACTICAL GAMER PRIMER.
3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.
