Re: Booster Pack info :
I hardly ever head over to TotalBF2142, but I've been sick for a few days and playing the game just makes my head hurt and my reaction times are way off, so I surfed around a bit. Apparently all the unlocks have been revealed in the open beta test of the new patch, so they are no longer covered by the NDA. If anyone wants to see what they are, and the discussion around there usefullness, it's here:

If this has been mentioned before, go easy on me; like I said, I'm a few fries short of a happy meal at the moment. The Dirty

Re: Booster Pack info :
intersting unlocks. not at all what i was expecting. to the average pubber, i dont think these will be all that huge, but for the organized intelligent play we see here i could see these really shaking things up.

Re: Booster Pack info :
They are pretty much what I expected in terms of useability. Many of them are nice, but no tradeoff for some standard unlocks. Extra rocket is going to be nice. I think that infantry radar thing for the support is going to be used quite a bit. An unlock for assault would have to be pretty damn good to give up either the rockets or defibs for and I don't think the UAV grenade is going to cut it. Maybe if you assign it to one person in a squad, but my understanding is that you only get one grenade.

Re: Booster Pack info :
the new player enhancement is good. the new squad leader thing isn't as it just means more ticket burn.
the motion mine bait will come in handy, i think.

Re: Booster Pack info :
The new SLSB is good in situations where you just got wasted by the advancing force capping the flag, and thus you respawn quicker, and hopefully before they neutralize the flag, so you have the opportunity to throw a nade into their midst and blow them all to smithereens.
The motion mine decoy is going to forever change how we play Gibraltar, and here's how. Eng's are going to have to be very careful with how they deploy their motion mines, b/c if a decoy is thrown, you want the minimum # of mines attracted as possible, but this comes at the trade off of greater distance between the mines, and therefore they're not so easily able to waste the buggies racing through.
Eng's are going to have to learn how to do emp mine + motion mine combos to offset the problem of the motion mine decoy.
Also, the decoy is good if you're an eng and come upon an enemy eng laying motion mines: just toss it at him and he goes boom b/c the motion mines detonated around him.|TG-Irr|Hiram_Yorik

Re: Booster Pack info :
Well, i just read a thing about the new goliath IFV that it has powercells on its hulls that need to be destroyed. This is because it has a self repair system, and only way around it is destruction of the power cells. If thats the case, that realy sucks. It might promote team work, but in the hands of a half decent driver and gunner, its going to be preaty much invincable, even more so than walkers and tanks with a good squad.
Heres the thing i read off battlefield2files.com:
1) The second video spot released from Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike shows an assault on the new IFV Goliath. The IFV seems to be able to resist a lot; could you give us some hints on how to take it out?
The Goliath is a beast, and will take a coordinated assault to take out. The key to its survivability is the self repair system, which is powered by six repair cells mounted on the hull of the Goliath. These need to be taken out to reduce its repair ability. Once enough of the repair cells are taken out you have to concentrate your firepower on the Goliath. The trick is to damage it so fast that the repair system can't keep up, so have a couple of squad mates help you out.
