Fear Me!
I just upgraded my 128mb video card to a 512 1950! I am so amped up! Cant wait to turn up the setting on my games. Now more "sqaures and circles" for me!
Should help my k/d ratio too.Battlefield 2: Battlefield 2142: WoW: Oblivion: NWN2

Re: Fear Me!
it definitely should. moving from my dad's 128mb vid card/2200+/512 Ram for christmas to my 1024mb vid card/5000+/2gb ram improved my game by more than i can tell you.

Re: Fear Me!
I always thought people who were really serious about playing lowered the graphics options. Increases the contrast and lets you pick out movement and objects better. I use high graphics options and everything looks really nice, but I don't think it improves my game any.

Re: Fear Me!
I have my settings all maxed, with AA at 2x. Running the 7900GS and getting about 90fps. Really helps!

Re: Fear Me!
In some games reducing your graphics options helps, but in BF2142, I find it's a definite detraction. For example, in Cerbere you have all those bushliket hings hanging around. On a high setting, they're not too bad. You can see through them if you're crouching behind them although vision is somewhat obscured. Turn down the options, and that plant becomes a fuzzy wall that's nearly impossible to see through.
Take that with a grain of salt though... i don't care because at the highest settings i'm still getting lots of frames per second (how do you measure it in game, by the way?), but that's not going to be true for everyone.

I went from a 6200 to a 7600gt. Night and day and I can use shadows to!

Re: Fear Me!
theres no way hes getting 90 fps with that card unless hes playin on 800x600 lol. I play with everything maxed, 16x AA supersampling (which is a killer on fps) and a rez of 1920x1200 and i get somewhere around 75 (i think, havent measured it) with a watercooled 8800gtx OCed almost 20%. The only thing holding me back from gettin even more is my 4800+ but ill live lol.

I'll take a screenshot if you want me to prove it guys... I guess I just got lucky.
Resolution is: 1650x1050 (customized the shortcut target) to satisfy my 20" widescreen.
The 7900GS is slightly overclocked though... It's a BFG.

Good Hardware makes a good player a better player. Crank it up!
I just recently built a new computer myself.
Asrock Dual-VSTA @ 250 MHZ FSB
AMD 4000+ @ 3.0GHZ
2GB of Corsair XMS PC4000 DDR Running @ 250 MHZ
NVIDIA Geforce 8800GTX 768MB @ 625MHZ core/955MHZ Ram
Samsung Syncmaster 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor @1680x1050
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS
250 GB Serial ATA 2 Harddrive
Apevia 680 Watt Power Supply
Logitech MX Revolution Laser Mouse
With this hardware setup I can run 16x antialiasing and 16x anosotropic filtering with all settings maxed @ 1680x1050 with average of 60FPS
(It is still not fast enough!)
Glad to see you upgrade Revark|TG|Williamhselby3
