Interesting Experience...
As some of you may remember, I definitely frequented the old BF2 TG server. I played as StubbedToe and it was a great time playing on the server. Although today sure didn't make for a very good experience.
This was my second time on the server and started off playing in a squad that didn't put up any orders. Switched squads, and they also did not put up orders. Looked for a TG squad (it was full, figured.).
Then we went to the next map, I don't recall the name though. I was able to join a TG squad finally to help learn how BF2142 is played as opposed to BF2. The squad leader hops into a vehicle and drives off and leaves me behind. Mind you, this was a TG tagged player. Alright, that was okay I guess. So, I hopped in a straggling tank that was headed the same way. Once I make it to the attack order, the TG members break up and make another squad leaving me to lead my own. That was interesting, but I do understand that they may have just wanted to make a full TG squad like back in BF2. Abrupt... but understandable.
So, after that, I lead my own squad. I set up orders and followed orders that the CO put up. We weren't the best squad, but we did do alright. All was fine until I saw a message in the top left: KICKING ODDMEAT FOR UCB CAMPING! Uuuh... Okay. I was in the middle of the map attacking the playground at the time... Bam! Kicked.
I guess basically I was just disappointed to be kicked for doing something I was definitely not doing.

Re: Interesting Experience...
I'm sorry you had a bad experience on the TG server. I remember your nick back from BF2. In situations like this it is best if you hop onto TeamSpeak and look up an admin to inform them of the lack of teamwork. As for the kick PM the admin who performed the kick. Sometimes our admintool behaves oddly and kick another person than intended(I do not know anything about the incident per. se.).

Re: Interesting Experience...
The TG squads are always full, it's pretty annoying, and I suck at squad leading and usually don't feel like it anyway. Fortunately (kind of) all the squads are disbanded between rounds, so just sit in the squad screen until a TGer forms a squad, hurry though, they fill in seconds...

I dont know about everyone else, but I have seen alot of people putting on TG tags that OBVIOUSLY never read the SOP or probably never been to the forums. I am not going to name name, but they are out there. Xmas rush? Not sure.
If you have TG tags on, play like it please! Dont go to the UCB and steal a vehicle with TG tags. Leaving squadmates when you have an open slot in a vehicle with TG tags?!

Re: Interesting Experience...
I second this. I would also like to add that there have been some "Learn TG" and other TG related squads that have been lead by individuals that are not the best representation of TG, have not read the Rules and SOPs, and/or choose to blatantly ignore said Rules and SOPs. Don't know what we can do about it other than to start cracking down on TG posers (A good way to tell is if they have [TG], or even {TG}, instead of |TG|, though its not a fool-proof way). But how can we do this without appearing to be exclusive or flat out rude/mean. Should we start a Rules and SOPs drive? There are a few server regulars that I can think of that need a stern talking to about our rules and a lesson about how we play here at TG.
Back on topic, though, I'm really sorry that you had such a crappy experience, StubbedToe. We've had quite a bit of growth due to the 2142 server and there are a lot of "enthusiastic" people who want to be part of our community/ "clan" (which is probably how they see it) but have yet to understand how we want to run things. The way the server is now is actually a vast improvement over how things started out, but there's obviously still some TG gospel to be spread. Give it another go, and I hope you'll find something like what it was like to play BF2 here.
P.S.- Could we spread the TG out a bit, guys? I know we like to play together, but having 2 squads with 3 TGs each instead of 1 full TG squad really helps to avoid situations like this.

Re: Interesting Experience...
I'm guessing, but it seems to me that the BF2 server was much easier to manage and get people who wanted to play the TG way. Because the BF2 server was unranked, only people who wanted to play tactically as a team would join and/or stay. The BF2142 server is just in the masses of ranked servers and since it's listed as partially full, everyone tries to join it. It makes reporting and admin'ing out the noobs a full time job.

Re: Interesting Experience...
As always, the admins need the help of the players to keep the server clean.
I have instructed the admins to crack down on problem players, whether it be the obvious smacktards or just those who simply don't use teamwork. But they can't guess who those players are.. It is up to all of us to give them the information needed in order to remove them from the server.

Re: Interesting Experience...
Hi
"The squad leader hops into a vehicle and drives off and leaves me behind."
Did the SL tell you to hold spawn?
Listen up for these orders as with all the pubs running around snatching vehicles it` an accepted tactic for the SL to do this and have you spawn when he reaches where he is going.
I could`nt agree more that Teamspeak is the tool to use to help the admins maintain order on the sever and it cant be stressed enough and the admins have said that they will be more strict when it comes to infractions by players sporting the TG tags. You have the responsibility to report them as the admins cant see everthing all the time. Also even if you are not the one reporting you may be able to confirm the infraction which helps the admin as well.

Re: Interesting Experience...
I have to agree with everything that has been said. There is nothing that gets under my skin more then when I am acting as CO and SLs with TG tags are not even trying to fallow orders. And there is no admin available. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG! <TURNING RED
I don't CO anymore.
My solution is to start my own squad 10 seconds before the round starts. So all the asshats have had time joinup in there respective squads. I only play SL, and play solo until enough people join my squad that want to play with teamwork. What has been happening is the same people are coming back into my squad who realize my style of play and I get a nice squad going. Its an attraction instead of promotion approach. The TG learn squads have been unfruitful for me. The sop is not getting through during casual gameplay.
When I started playing on the TG servers, I never would have come to the forums if it wasn't for Password night. The passwords were hard to find. So I had to read through alot to find them. Thats the only way I was able to understand what was going on here. I think we need to implement password night w/2142 a couple nights a week. And have many more people with admin privileges. Right now there are very few people that have migrated over to 2142 from BF2. The trend seams that the admins have been assigned to admin both games. I think there should be dedicated 2142 admins that play here frequently. The ratio of admin to player is probably 1/10th to what it is in BF2. And there is are so many more tards with 2142.

Re: Interesting Experience...
Can't have passwords on a ranked server. If you loose ranked server status you'll fall off 95% of everone's server browser list because of default filters.
Still wouldn't be a bad idea though.

Re: Interesting Experience...
we have a hard enough time filling the server during the day...
Anyway, i'm sorry you had a bad experience with the teamplay. I find the level of teamplay can vary a lot when you're not on the squad with most of the TGs (sometimes there's more than one of these)
There are a lot of people who, because this is simply a community and not a clan, just slap on a TG tag. The majority are very good teamplayers, but there are a few who really bother me (i can think of one who loves to squad lead but is only very reluctantly proded into using VoiP).
The good news is that the more you play, the more often you figure out who those players are. And the even BETTER news is that squads often play with the amount of teamwork put out by their squadmates and especially their SL. It takes some leadership ability, but people tend to follow by example. Sure, often times you'll still have that lone wolf squadmember out on a different flag, but if you're talking, leading, etc. then chances are pretty good your squadmates will too.
TG is great because it's a place where like-minded individuals can get together and play. But that doesn't mean that teamwork is simply offered up on a silver platter. Check out www.squadplay.com and Orca's first videos on how to squad lead to get an idea how to take ordinary pubs and turn them into productive squadmembers.

Re: Interesting Experience...
I'd love to see a TG only night for forum registered players. That would be awesome fun.

Re: Interesting Experience...
Problems usually pop up shortly after seeding when admins are not present, seeing as the server was just populated. I was on today early and a lot of people were supprised when I told them that they couldn't enter the UCB unless they were there to destroy assets, but that didn't help too much.
As for TG imposters/rulebreakers, they should also be reported as they should not be wearing the tag and creating bad rep. Just log onto TS before your next game and help report smacktards.
