Ticket Bleed Reminder
I've seen some silly stuff lately, so a reminder is in order. Here is how ticket bleed works:
- Assault maps (maps where EU has no UCB): PAC bleeds only until it captures its first flag. EU bleeds only when it has no flags.
- Head-on maps (maps where both teams have a UCB): The ticket bleed depends on how many flags you have. This is how bleed works:

That middle point is where the teams hold an equal number of flags.
In both modes, your team bleeds a single ticket each time you die. This is whenever you become killed, so if you are 'Critically Wounded' and are revived, there is no ticket loss.
Note the shape of the graph, and consider that attacking a flag normally costs your team more lives than defending. When you already have a majority of flags, continuing to attack may cost your team more than you gain, even if you succeed. In assault maps there is never a tactical advantage to attacking if you already have a flag.
Bear that in mind. Defense FTW.

Hehe...you'd be surprised how many people just don't get it. There are times though when it is not just a matter of how many flags you have...but WHICH flags you have!!

Re: Ticket Bleed Reminder
So is it me or is there no bleed indicator for non-commanders? You know, the flashing ticket counter? I don't get any bleed notice when I'm a regular grunt, which is a big flaw IMO. The flashing indicator in BF2 always motivates me to get a flag, or when it's on the other side, hold the current flag.

Exactly, which flags to defend is important, its best to have a flag where you have good cover in defence and they are crossing open ground to advance towards you and also that they are funnelled into a choke point as they advance towards you i.e. a killing zone

Re: Ticket Bleed Reminder
I knew that ticket bleed was an effective tactical/command tool to be used when on the defensive, but I was never sure exactly how it worked.
Too many times, on Camp Gib., I've seen EU forces loose, even though they've held everything from Toll Station back, and no PAC forces were ever able to get past Toll station. The CO repeatedly just kept trowing troops at the meatgrinder that is Harbor, hoping to take it back. The resulting ticket bleed from KIA's resulted in a loss.
Conversely, I've seen EU forces win on ticket bleed, just by holding Toll Station and letting PAC come into their meatgrinder.
Now that I know how exactly how it works, hopefully I can Incorporate this into my future strategies when COing or even SLing.
Thanks Jep.

Re: Ticket Bleed Reminder
Well one time on camp gib. as soon as PAC took harbor they defended, instead of going into the EU's meatgrimder they decided to let us go to them, aside from bleeding were losing points because we got noobs trying to get harbor back, so were now losing tickets to KIA's and bleed, i think thats the most punishing loss ive ever seen on camp gib. PAC takes harbor and then defends it so EU will go to there meatgrinder. We should use this method more often, camp gib. is one of my least favorite maps but i wouldnt mind getting a couple of wins on it

Re: Ticket Bleed Reminder
Camp Gibraltar does not have ticket bleed unless EU owns all of the flags. EU will never have bleed unless it losses al the flags, whch is end of game for them anyway. Ticket bleed refers to the automatic ticket reduction based on flag ownership and is really only a factor in maps that have two UCB's. I don't really count 1 UCB maps like Gibraltar and Berlin; if PAC can't get one flag it's pretty much toast anyway. It is a factor in how fast you get that first flag, if you get it at all. Ticket loss due to death rate isn't part of the OP's point.
If you get the chance to CO on these maps, like Tunis, Verdun, Shahia Taiba you'll see the real time ticket bleed countdown and you'll see how it's a significant factor in winning or losing, especially on the armor maps where the deathrate isn't as high and flags change hands slower.

Re: Ticket Bleed Reminder
The key at Camp Gib for PAC is to take harbor and immediately go on the defensive. Should they do so early enough the 30 point ticket lead (offsets initial assault bleed) can be substantially preserved. If they fail in the initial assault over harbor or grind away against toll its pretty much over.

Re: Ticket Bleed Reminder
I'm bringing this back up because I made a demonstration just to show what the flashing ticket bleed indicator looks like on the commander screen. For those that were in BF2, this is what everyone used to see, not just the commander.
This is Shuhia Taiba and it shows the bleed changing from one team to the other as the centre flag is captured.
Google video is just really bad for showing any detail, but you should be able to get the jist of it:
http://video.google.ca/videoplay?doc...22064910158690
It might be just unviewable. If that's so, you can watch the much clearer video I submitted to google video, but it's on my really slow home server.

Re: Ticket Bleed Reminder
Could this be a sticky or maybe added to the Squad Leader Tactics sticky?
Occasional squad leaders (for example, me can make some really bad decisions if they don't consider this.

Re: Ticket Bleed Reminder
one thing to add.
on cerbere landing capturing office ruins as PAC will not stop the bleed, it just allows an extra spawn point.
and also a question..
what about on the 16 player map of tunis, since there are no uncaps is there still a bleed when holding the majority of flags?

Bleed starts when one team captures a third flag, it stops when neither team holds three (i.e. neutralizing one flag halts the bleed).

You are correct in saying that there is no initial bleed but but if EU captures the flag bleed becomes and issue, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that I am
