Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
I ususally stay in the vehice until it is down to about 10-6 health, meaning it's gonna blow within the next 2-3 seconds

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
héhé. Reminds me of a scrim held not that long ago. On Operation Clean Sweep you suggested we let the opponent have a certain flag BUT all the vehicle spawn points were booby trapped ahead of time

First time I ever got 6 kills by looking at a flag flip on the minimap

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
I seen it too often on Berlin when people jump out of the PAC APC and WALKER - its like sealing your fate to lose that round for sure.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
Yeah, Redbane decided to give the enemy the first inland flag. I told him the Irregs would have some presents waiting on them.
You'all (I was to the east partrolling in an APC) laid mines in vehicles and under armor and grabed a vehicle drop and checked out, and then Bomm blew the bridge after you guys rolled by.
The enemy hoped in and were able to get like six kills or something.
Really cool way to start the map and get some nonrivable kills on the enemy early. Doing that could have really thrown off their initial assault.
Yeah, Redbane had a good plan and the team did well with it.
____________
I believe you guys should be o.k. about letting a tank get a way from you on the battlefield if you screw up and let the enemy get it. Happens to the best of us. If this does happen, report it up the chain of command so the CO knows one of their assests is gone. Maybe they will give you some gunship support to get it back!

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
I have to admit, I somehow pull people out of walkers only to jump into the warm seat they left me.
This one time, I was running after a walker as an assult(I had no where to cover to) and I did about one circle with him and he jumped out and I was in it in a second. Full health and our team had 2 walkers on camp gibralter(sp)
The one I love most is you pick off a walker or APC once and hide for a moment. Wait for they driver to pop out and start repairing it. Then I run up and jump in. I done this about 5 times and got killed only once to a sniper. The soldier formerly known as, Eroak.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
Because there are several maps where the armor is essential to victory (like Berlin and Cerbere), and we've all played enough games where some retard gave their walker or APC to the other team. They, and their teammates, are then brutally violated for the rest of the round, or at least until a couple of their teammates get themselves killed a dozen times trying to destroy the damned thing.
So yes, it is an extreme lack of teamwork. The act of cowardice- bailing out of the vehicle early- will now likely result in a crushing defeat for your team. Capisce?

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
i think abandoning is far less important in maps like shuhbia than it is in infantry maps...
but it also can be fairly significant the other way. yesterday i was playing in rock's squad on suez, and we managed to steal three tanks and a walker this way -- which eventually let us turn a 25 ticket deficit into a 4 ticket win by capturing inner bridge lock.
that being said, i wouldn't say that a policy of always dying with the vehicle is always the prudent one. if the tickets are down to 20 in a tight game, it's clearly worth the risk that someone will take that burning armor. Because even if you get killed when you hop out, there's a possibility of a revive. And the guy who tries to steal your armor may very well jump in, get blown up, and be an unrivavable kill -- that's a two ticket swing. I think we've all seen games that have been decided by one or two tickets.

Very true man. Oh, I think I put a piece similar to this in the 'Walker Tactics' thread, if you want something detailed pertaining to BWs.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
Just had a prime example of this that worked in my favor. We were on berlin and the PAC tem just left their apc on 45 health sitting there. I hoped in and proceded to kill 25 of them before I was taken down. Not only did I get all of those kills but it also took William 3 orbital strikes to take me down so I saved my team some tickets with that. Needless to say we won by a big margin.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
You had to be there Gahlas...there was no difference in what the guy did then jump in our walker, ran it over to the enemy, and turned it over to them...WITH NO DAMAGE. Or the APC on Belgrade winding up in PAC hands...(there is nothing quite like the wrath of god as 2 enemy APCs shelling you).
I am not talking about the people who destroy their vehicles after dismount (all though they better be real close to death). Or those who bailed when the klaxon is blaring and they quite literally have 3 seconds to escape. I am talking about the idiots who leave a vehicle 25% damaged and bail out. Then some enemy jumps into the vehicle and proceedes to score 25 kills on us(cases stated above). He saved his 1 ticket behind, and cost our team countless losses. I do not see how you can view that as anything less than Lack of Teamwork.
You said so your self Galhas, if they destroyed the vehicle after bailing...I would not have a problem with it.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
i had this trick pulled on my twice the other day (i forget who it was). I was an engineer and had gotten a tank down to around 25-30%. The guy bails and runs for cover. I thought "hot dog! I'll get that tank." So i jumped in and approximately half a second later the guy's put a pilum through the back. Ouch!

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
Haha, I remember having a 2 man squad and since nobody was using one of the Blackhawks we'd take turns flying it into enemy territory, landing and blasting the enemy with the miniguns. Occasionaly they'd manage to capture it. It was fun debating when the most surprising (and thus hilarious) moment would be to detonate all the C4 on the bottom.

Re: Don"t Freaking Do It!!!
Man I love doing this. Seems to happen a lot on Verdun, people always seem to run tanks/walkers up to the gap in the wall NE of church without any infantry support. The little house out there provides plenty of cover and you can just drop a support kit and EMP spam until your squad blows the armor, or the driver jumps out in frustration and gets promptly gunned down.

Ok, BUMP! Big, long(2 years ago) bump. But this bothers me, so I'm bumping it. Die with your vehicle!
Thanks for listening.
