Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
I evoke the Rule #7: Vehicles are to be used for realistic purposes only. In real life, if the fighter jet is about to die and the pilots know it and have a few seconds to do something, what do they do? They bail out. So I personally see nothing wrong with people bailing out IF AND ONLY IF the gunship/roflcopter is under 20 hp. Otherwise it is just a waste of an asset.
Same could be said for ground vehicles if no engineers/ammo crates/friendly vehicles with engineers inside them.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
air vehicles are a different story because its a lot harder to get in a vehicle falling out of the sky

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
That's right. I mean, have you ever seen someone jump in a burning gunship as it falls from the sky? The main point of this thread was on land vehicles where evil people like Spulat can steel them.
There have been times however, when I wish I could pull a halo move and hijack a vehicle from a guy in one fell swoop.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
Let's sort this a little, shall we?
THE GOOD WAY TO HANDLE YOUR JUICY AND PLUMP VEHICLES:
Be safe! Remain among your teammates and make sure you can quickly retreat to a populated and friendly place if you get damaged. If you need to hop out of your vehicle to repair, retreat to a safe place far away from the action. Before you actually do this, ask for a fellow engineer to repair you instead, or look for a supply box. The best way to repair is to have a teammate still inside, preventing the enemy from stealing the vehicle away. When repairing, make sure you are in a fairly open area where you can see far away, so that enemy soldiers can't sneak up on you. At worst, some tank will be trying to lob a shell at you, and you have a better chance of surviving him than the enemy who popped into your face at melee range. On the city maps that TG usually plays, because of the scarcity of armored assets, you want to fight conservatively and act as fire support, suppressor and psychological weapon to your fellow infantry. You do not want to frontline it lest you get caught in a motion mine trap and be forced to endure the agony of Pilums slowly eating you up.
Be steel-nerved! Remain inside even if death is imminent. Bail out only when health goes under 5%, and even then, make sure you have a means to demolish your ride if you abandon it. That's why you should be engineer or recon when using armor.
Assume harmless shenanigans! If you see someone running towards you, assume he's trying to coax you out. Remain inside. Pick him off if you can, but hold on to your joystick and if he indeed was a recon with RDX on you, bite the bullet and take the death.
Jeeps are the only vehicles you can really be lax with since they are so brittle and easy to destroy even with a machine gun - or you can simply kill the driver for an even swifter victory.GOD IS DEAD. THE N00BS TEAMKILLED HIM.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
Well if its a large vehicle map I would bail out to bait him into it...then destroy the armor XD
Infantry maps...for the love of your team, don't get out unless you're 100% sure you won't get killed and no one is around, or the alarm is ringing.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
Someone stole the walker during Camp Gib last night. The driver hopped out to repair it, the gunner jumped out also, why I don't know, next thing you see is a red diamond suddenly appear and the walker start killing everyone on our team.

Last night I grabbed the PAC walker on Berlin with 7% health. The engineers who bailed were surprised and died. Alas the walker and I did not survive long.

Re: Die With Your Vehicle!
You know I started reading the first post without looking at the date and it felt like Dejavu. Then I read my reply right under it and got even more confused for a second.
Anyways this still holds true and since my example on the second page I have had many many more examples both in and against my favor.
ps oniell did you wait to bump this up so it'd be exactly 2 years on purpose?
