I like Shuhia Taiba, too. I find it much less painful than the stalemates in Camp Gibraltar. Just don't make me defend Reactor Core.

Re: New Map Rotation

I like Shuhia Taiba as well, but I'm a treadhead so that's only natural...

If at first you don't succeed, you need more firepower.

There is nothing wrong with feeling something when you shoot your enemies... as long as that something is recoil.

I don't want to get in a big argument but uh...no imo. If you think linearly of course your going to run into all the armor on the main roads. However there are other routes off to the sides(look for them) and a transport chopper should be reason enough to get you anywhere ya need to go. Not to mention all the flag setups have large architecture around that perimeter which is the key to not getting slaughtered by armor and air in the bf games...ATs can actually hide and ambush in these surroundings. There is a decent amount of armor per side but its really not bad at all imo. Basically if you give the two flags close to the ucbs to their respective teams then there is three tanks , a walker and some apcs per side. With two gunships in the air that seem to be built to focus on armor and not infantry...well I don't see what the problem is. This map isn't any worse than half the bf2 vanilla maps were armor wise and in vanilla you had nasty choppers and jets to worry about. I guess everyone is getting soft these days....infantry infantry infantry. Sigh

Re: New Map Rotation

I was planning on trying to get the map rotation changed on a more frequent basis. That slipped on my todo list- I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

Exactly! I like more open maps because there is room for armor and the infantry battles are less predictable. Everyone knows where all the fighting will be on Gibraltar but any cluttered patch of ground on armor maps can become an unsuspected battleground. I've had some of my best infantry battles on Verdun and Shuhia.

Re: New Map Rotation

At the very least, move Shala Tubai to the end of the rotation. It's the map that kills the server at night, every time

Yes, I think this would be a good idea!

I have noticed this too. Had a few people specifically say that "Ah man, I hate this map. I am going to log for the night."

Re: New Map Rotation

to my knowledge, there's only one way to get from East or West Mountain Pass up to Freezers/Office. The road eventually forks, but it's still choked at some point, and it still forces you to come from a predictable direction.

if there's another way, i'd love to know.

anyway, moving it to the end was really my only goal. I'd like to see it swapped with Minsk for variety (i've played enough shuhia to last me a lifetime), but just moving it to the end is sufficient for me.

Re: New Map Rotation

Or you can just hop in the fatship and drive past the mountains. Whoops. Looks like you DON'T need to come in from the same direction every time.

Re: New Map Rotation

and that's fine, but assaulting flags other than central or the closer flags via the troop transport is hard many times because of:

a) Gunships (two of them on the map)
b) AA guns both stationary and Walker based
c) Armor

There's enough armor on the map to make it hard with just infantry to assault a flag. But even when you do manage to get that back flag, it's difficult to hold for long as armor from both the base and from freezers/office.

My main point is that shuhia is an armor map. And the ARMOR has to use choke points to make any progress. That's what makes it unenjoyable; that's what kills the server; that's why moving it to the end of the rotation makes sense.
