New Map Rotation

I'm not sure how the admins will react, but it seems like a new map rotation is called for. Due to the somewhat frequent crashes of the server, certain maps early in the rotation get played a lot more. Shuhia is played second, and gets played a lot. Shuhia is almost universally reviled, so i thought maybe we could give some thought to what the perfect rotation might be.

The criteria I think would be:
a) Put liked maps earlier in the rotation
b) Change the type of map up from map to map (assault vs. head to head or infantry vs. armor or choke points vs. no choke points
c) Don't TOO front load the rotation or else whenever the game doesn't crash we'll have a couple of hours of unwanted maps coming up.

A good rotation maybe would look like this:

1. Belgrade - Pretty much the most liked map on the server. Good balance to it, and a great map to start the rotation.
2. Cerbere - An assault map, so it's different from Belgrade. It can be hard to be on the assaulting team which I think is okay.
3. Suez Canal - An armor map that's fairly well liked.
4. Tunis Harbor - A great infantry centric, small map with lots of action.
5. Verdun - A fairly well balanced armor map although it's by no means liked by every person in the game. Still, it outstrips Shuhia and Sidi in terms of enjoyment.
6. Fall of Berlin - An infantry heavy assault map. Meat Grinding.
7. Sidi Power Plant - Ugh. But better than shuhia
8. Camp Gibraltar
9. Minsk/Shuhia

This way, the most played maps will be the most well liked, but we'll still occasionally end up playing the others.

In any case, i guess the one thing I implore is that we get shuhia out of the two spot. Few people like it, and it gets played SO much.

I really like the idea of moving the better maps to the start of the rotation. Excellent ideas all around.

yep..i agree as well..that Shuhia map blowz dog! it wouldn't hurt my feelings to see it go away for a few months or so..

no, i don't think you are, snail, and i actually don't like relegating it to a minor place on the rotation, but i need something there to make the end of the rotation more fun and infantry based.

I love this idea, moving favored maps to the front is a BAMF idea, i am a huge fan of camp giby. but wouldnt be disapointed if i didnt see it in the rotation.

Please remove Shuhia Tabia completely from the rotation. It belongs in the trash with Minsk. Actually I would rather have Minsk then Shuhia....

Shuhia Tabia is my favorite map so far. Its a combined arms map and doesn't have any of the chokepoint nonsense...you can actually move around some. Granted I hate most of 2142's maps due to all the stupid chokepoints designed for spam tactics and point grabbing so you can mostly ignore my opinion since I play the game pretty infrequently.

You will most likely find you are in the minority here. I would not call it combined arms either. This map is HEAVY on vehicles!

actually, the choke points are PRECISELY why i dislike shuhia. it's like fall of berlin for tanks. There is one way, and only one way on the ground to go about the game. You can try flying a squad to a back flag, but the combination of armor, motion mines and AA guns makes this a difficult proposition.

I agree, bring on the new rotation; and while you're at it, please, PLEASE do a swap of Minsk in replacement of Shuhia!

I really like Shuhia too. I like the use of cover for Engineers, the need to manage your armour columns and the ability to flank to back flags.

The other suggestions are sound and I don't see why we couldn't mix it up a bit.
