Voss vs. Baur

Ever since that last scrim and the feedback I got about the Buar has made me finally give back in and start using it again.

After about 2 nights of long days fighting with it I finally got the hang of it. It's great at close range and better then any other non-sniper rifle at long range with the single shot (Which I think I abuse to much!). I went back to the Voss, I can't even stand it anymore. I find myself just not getting them ranged kills. I do like that larger clip but at close range I find myself have to use half up and reloading it anyway.

Last night I got on the monorail holding a flag well but using that single shot. 6 clips, 3 rocket sets, and a pistol clip later I racked up 20 some kills and didn't die until I had to jump off. Heck, I might not even bother with sniper rifles anymore.

Feedback?

I usually find that to not be the case all the time. I find the baur to be very versatile in situations where you change your range alot of the time. In very tight maps, I prefer the voss sometimes (like on camp gibby), though even then I still prefer the baur sometimes.

Re: This is my rifle. There are many like it.

I used to be a Voss supporter, but after using the Baur for a week or so, I'm sticking with the Baur. Having said that, I agree with Sc1ence about using it at long range. I prefer to use the Baur at short to mid range, and only long range in extreme circumstances (though I would mostly being using rockets at a long range).

But, I'm still a machinegun carrying support guy at heart.

If at first you don't succeed, you need more firepower.

There is nothing wrong with feeling something when you shoot your enemies... as long as that something is recoil.

the baur at long range does the same damage as the voss i believe.

see with the voss you can fire repeatedly with single shot not mattering if you miss because you can just fire it again not so with the baur.

I use both when I play. I just sort of pick the one that "feels" right for the situation.

Same, the Baur was my weapon of choice in the beta. I don't even have the voss unlocked, It is only good to me for CQC. Baur is better med-long range. Its not the best up close, but its not suppose to be.

Re: This is my rifle. There are many like it.

The Baur is a mean machine. ultra heavy round, but with a massive recoil. Over range once, this recoil is mastered is one of the deadliest weapons in the game. But as some have pointed out its alot harder at close range with it.
However, a little trick when im in close quarters, i still use the "zoom aim" feature when close but try to keep the cross hairs on the enemy, the rifle, IMO is a whole lot more stable of a platform when applied this way. Almost every shot hits if you keep it on them, and it only takes around 7 shots to cut them down!

It's a good rifle. My personal favorite in ranged combat as a medic/assault. It has the accuracy, the stopping power, and the looks.

It does have a recoil, but at close range I usually burst with it. At longer ranges it's effective enough to take down grouped targets.

Re: This is my rifle. There are many like it.

I only use the Baur and I have a burning hatred towards the Voss. I can kill more people close and long range with the Buar then I could ever achieve with the Voss. Although I die more often from a Voss, but that's probably due to the fact that the majority of guns used in any round is a Voss.

Re: This is my rifle. There are many like it.

I preferred the Baur prior to NS, but I've been having difficulty with it now. Sometimes it seems to work just fine, but under certain circumstances, it doesn't work:

- Right after I crouch or prone, I can't hit targets. I'll be motionless and even have my sight up. The gun is also in single-shot, so I should be more accurate.

I know that after going prone your accuracy increases after a few seconds. However, prior to NS I was able to crouch and get increased accuracy quicker than I can in NS. I don't know, these may be the paranoid dellusions of a proud Baur user, but I've had to switch to using either the Voss or the stock weapon.

What is worse is that everyone else seems to think that the Baur is even better in NS, which makes me look even crazier! LOL.

Re: This is my rifle. There are many like it.

Someone was absolutely destroying me last night on the NS server with the Baur. I believe it was you Zid. I have been trying to get better with it, but I usually end up frustrated, and switch back to the Voss (EU only, my favorite gun in the game is the Krylov). If they sped up the ROF slightly on the Baur, I think it would increase its popularity versus the Voss. Maybe they could make it the odd ball gun, and make it 750 RPM.

I"ve tried both and have gotten hooked on the Voss, but I will try the Baur again, just to see what is better.
