finished
After a hectic week of to many brews, not enough game time and not enough sleep, I finally finished this track this morning. Well, I know I can always improve upon it and tinker with it forever, but its time to move on and work on something else. The final track can be found in the same spot.
noitadnuof.com/tracks/jasonbuss/ I cleaned up a bunch of the 'lil hiccups and re-did a few of the spots in the track. Now its time to let DICE hear it. Enjoy!

Re: Song I am working on - Bullet Catcher
I just thought of an idea, it would be alot of fun to make a teamwork style/highlight video to this and have it as an opening page to our website. I really think it would be fantastic if someone here that is good with video capturing/editing and the website admins would approve and implement such a thing.
I really like the song. It sounds great! |

Re: Song I am working on - Bullet Catcher
Thanks!
Cappy, no offense taken at all bud, I'm a designer by trade, and I learned the hard way a long time ago between regular crit and constructive crit. So don't worry, feedback is definitely appreciated. The early spot you mention has several loops and a emerging beat that "almost" conflict. But like you said, the more you listen to it, it grows. When I muted out some of the sounds there during the buildup, it sounded too empty for my tastes. This will be one of the spots I work on more if I revisit this again. The spot around 5:11 etc sounds that way because the bass rift is out of key from the looped 1942 sounds. That was one of the last parts I was still having issues with, but decided to leave as is for the time being (I also feel like its missing something there. One of those areas to revist :-). There is also a spot at 6:17 that goes out of sink when i render final. Everytime in that spot, something I have to troubleshoot. BIT, that would rock. The track is arranged in Live and recorded native for final. Most of the pieces are either loops played in Live, or loops and sounds that were cut, created and made-ready for use in Live from other programs. If you have something you would like to add to this, that would be awesome! I can share the high mp3, aif, wav or whatever you'd need to be able to jam over it. Then I can add it in. This would sorta make it like a ping-pong-song (like the ping pong'n photoshop. One user creates, the next elaborates and creates more and it goes back and forth etc..) Something we can discuss further via email or pm if your up for it, but that idea sounds great. It would be awesome to collab. I emailed DICE this morning to informly advise them of this creation. Hopefully they will support it full on like most of the fan-made creations from this community (I am hoping parent EA, or the composer will be just as stoked with it.) But since it is music copyright related, I am not sure how they will react to my current distribution method. Something I am currently gearing up to inquire officially with them about. As for doing a Tactical Gamer vid, I would love to take a stab at some editing. I have been messing around with battlerec and the sir.communities BattleDirector. Speaking of this, does TG ever utilize the battlerecorder server feature? I have noticed this isnt available as a norm. Is this something that can be requested to be turned on for a few days? I should probably direct that question via pm to an admin huh? I'll get right on it. :-) Thanks Again!

Re: Song I am working on - Bullet Catcher
i have a DA Converter failuer in my TOSLINK "in" from my rig...it sounds like ass..i got to get a new input card before i can get anything remotley decent "into" the PC....i can work with any of those files no problem..i will probaly just record to my MR-8 and just start bouncing tracks and then do a mixdown and send that to you to see what you think...i sold my freakin Alesis arranger last year when i was down frmo the surgery, so i will have to come up with a software arranger as well..should be no big prob...
i got a couple of pics of my rig as it was at our practice room..yes..i know it is a mess..but if it was all neat and tidy i might freak out.. |

Quite a while ago I attempted to put together a little fictional movie using TG'ers as actors and before I could win my struggle againt the lousy interface of BR my HD failed and I lost the files i was working on. If I ever did another movie, I would use fraps for every shot I could. |

Re: Song I am working on - Bullet Catcher
I first heard this song on the VOIP Teamwork (Invisi-squad) video, and I was amazed. I could barely pay attention to what was going on in the video.
It sounds absolutely fantastic. It probably spawns from my love of remixes and of my insane obsession for the 1942 theme (which i have yet to find a decent mp3 of it that i can download, until now that is ^^). Great work! This is probably going to be my top-played song for the next few years.

Re: Song I am working on - Bullet Catcher
I'm an electronica junkie also, and that's really a nice track. Bravo! The music and arrangement is solid.
I'd like to hear some gunfire or an explosion from the game worked in to really emphasize the Bullet Catcher and BF2142 theme though. |

Re: Song I am working on - Bullet Catcher
Gilding music with cheap sound effects is not one of my favorite things. I do agree that the intro did seem a little extended during the first 20 playbacks, but it works out nicely after you get used to it.
