Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
Gauging how much support we have for incorporating the Northern Strike Maps into our standard vanilla conquest server. Adding the maps to the mix as it were. We have had nights with both servers running at capacity so I think we could get away with it. I just need to start getting a feel for numbers, as those who have not or will not purchase NS would be booted when the map came into the cycle. Pleasse vote yes or no for merging the maps into server #1 Vanilla's rotation, and feel free to post comments...just keep them short. NO RANTS PLEASE, HONEST SUGGESTIONS ONLY!

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
Honestly I'd rather see #2 become more of a 'vehicle' centric server, and #1 be more of the maps like Cerbere, Belgrade etc etc. But that's just me
I feel like the NS maps are so vehicle dominated that adding them to the rotation on #1 will just dilute the infantry action even more.

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
Yesterday I played on a server that had both NS and Vanilla maps, also both Conquest and Titan maps. This really mixed it up and the server was almost full most of the time. The variety really kept you going, and not being very big on the Titan maps, I am learning more and more about how to play them effectively. Nothing beats playing in the TG server though!

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
As much as I advocated for Titan to be put in the mix, I have to speak up now and say I was horribly wrong. The Titan/Conquest mix was a valiant effort, but just not meant to be here.

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
I'm torn. I'd like to see the NS maps on the main server because the second server hates me with a passion. At the same time though, I like the fact that the main server is mostly infantry. That said, replacing Sidi and Shuia with PB and Liberation wouldn't be a bad idea. There seems the be a consensus that the bridge map is too big, and most people dislike Sidi and Shuia. I dunno. Hell, I don't like Verdun myself.....

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
If they do change it they better bring back Titan on the second server.

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
well if it were to happen i would say only put the assult line maps in rotation with vanillia. but then again you will be taking a server away from the people that dont have NS which in turn they will go look elsewhere and our server will be among the minions only half full or empty most of the time.
people arent gona want to play in a server that their going to be kicked out of cause they dont have NS, they will find a server that they will be able to stay in and play, i think they understand gettin kicked for a supporting member(well most of them) but to be kicked because they dont have the booster is a whole nother story

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
If players would just use the Goliath to hold the bridge they'd be able to hold the PAC to just half the map where they're dropship fodder. But no, everyone thinks it's a better idea to just drive the Goliath straight down the middle where it gets hit from all sides and picked apart by Speeders while letting the PAC gun everyone down in the EU dropship.
...
So would we be playing the 32 player NS maps with 42 players?

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
This is all for information purposes so far. I was envisioning combining the NS maps with Vanilla in rotation to mix things up. Still no Titan though. Our problems with Titan are documented elsewhere, and this isn't the thread to rehash. Keep it coming people.

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
another thing if we were to do this, i know we talked about it but nothing was realy decided on it.... being everyone complains about server #2 being horrid as far as lagg and ping have we or could we look into getting another server say in the same place #1 server is????
or are we locked in with server #2 by contract???? and cant do anything till the contract is up????
id say if we were to do this we should keep the conquest server then maybe put 2142 and NS on the second server(if we can get a better placement AND OR BETTER performance) .any info on this, it was decused a while ago,, just wondering if anything was decided???

Re: Support for Combining Northern Strike and Conquest server
Voted yes...
I think all three NS maps are strong. There is an adjustment period when you first play them which can be disillusioning at first, but as you get to know the maps, they become really fun. To the one who said they are vehicle dominated: while this is true, there are plenty of flags/areas that only infantry can enter. Also, they are set up so that infantry can engage vehicles as well, there is lots of cover and higher places to attack from. I think they did a great job of incorporating infantry warfare into large-scale vehicle warfare. SLSBs are incredibly useful, as are engineers. I may be biased, though, because engineer is my first love.
And also, yeah, the current TG NS server lags like a bitch for me.
