    New TG Unit - 3rd SFD



    I am pleased to announce the formation of a new TG unit, the 3rd Special Forces Detachment.

    Known as the Thunderbolts, the 3rd SFD specializes in close-quarters infantry combat for BF2142. With regularly scheduled practice and training, the 3rd SFD aims to be a close-knit team that is constantly improving its combat techniques, tactics and teamwork.

    Leading up the 3rd is Crux, with sc1ence as Second in Charge. Other founding members are WaffleHousChef and BleedingKnee (LousyBackup on the forums).

    The unit insignia is pictured above. The unit flash (used for forum avatars) is as follows:



    The Thunderbolts' motto is Caeli Cado - The Heavens Fall.

    In order to join the 3rd, you must be a TG Supporting Member. In addition, you must pass an in-game tryout and evaluation period. All applicants can contact myself (Crux) or sc1ence via PM on the forums.

    We look forward to seeing all of you in-game sporting the |TG-3rd| tags.

    Did the 9th have a mutiny or somthing? I think the 3rd stole my idea of a 6 man Clark squad.

    This is definitely something good. The heavy emphasis within most of the in-house squads seems to be on BF2 and the PRM mod. I've never played the PRM mod so I can't express an opinion on it. If I were to judge from those I know, I would say it's pretty impressive.

    That being said, I am pretty involved in BF2142 and don't feel like splitting my time between the two. So to see a new squad form with the focus in BF2142, especially in the area of infantry in close combat, I'm all in favor.

    From the past few nights in various maps, I can definitely see the need for a squad that has practice and experience in clearing out buildings with multiple floors. Belgrade and Berlin come to mind most specifically.

    lol, hardly. Our focus will be on teamwork in close quarters combat with a sqaud primarily made of assualt kits. All 3rd will be expected to have superior skill with the assualt kit. But we will not shy away from anything that is tactically prudent such as asset destruction, armor hunting, ticket gathering (setting up a killzone), or infiltration and insertion behind enemy lines.
