What the hell? That guy looked like he knew how to fly that up there. Is there some sort of combination of buttons that need to be pushed to do that? I want to see a flying walker verse a gunship or a walker sitting on top of a titan. Nice find silver

If you read the text, it mentions a mod...theyre making a mechwarrior mod.
Mechs in mechwarior commonly have jump jets.

It looked like a mech to me! Primary is rockets (like the gunship) and secondary is EMP like the APC (except they go straight). That would be the most awesome vehicle in-game! Total domination!

If they are sticking to Mechwarrior rules at all, those EMP blasts are also going to do wicked damage to vehicles. I admit it, I'd play. I've been wanting a good Mech game since Mechwarrior4 and its expansions.

Hi there all. This is xKamikazex - One of the Lead Devs of Mech Warrior: Living Legends Total Conversion Mod for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and maker of those videos from 2142.
As you guys know from the description from the youtube video, all of our mod assets are being ported over to ET:QW due to the limitations of the 2142 engine. I know that seems kinda funny since that video demonstrated a flying mech, but the limitations were of the more technical type - Weapon Selections for mechs, Jump Jet Drift problems, Problems with Animation and Rigging of new mechs to work in 2142 (that was the biggest head ache). So as a team we decided to port the mod over to ET:QW and lead the way to developing mods for Quake Wars.
To go into a little bit of a Technical explanation of those videos - What you see in the video shown in the top post was to demonstrate the custom particle effects as well custom sounds of the Mech Weapon called the Particle Projectile Cannon (PPC for short). I made the particle "stretch out" to give a more of a beam like effect as well had the explosion make an EMP shockwave and do EMP damage (but very little - only to make the electronics seem sticky to the enemy vehicle, not totaly shut him down), kinda like the PPCs did in the Mech Warrior Games.
As for the "Jump Jets", those were basicly the mod starter. I can't claim ownership of the Jump Jet code, that would have to go to the other Lead Dev of the Living Legends team - Criminal. How it basicly started was he came to me one day and said "Hey dude, wouldn't it be cool if the 2142 walker could jump like in Mech 4?" Who was I to think that jump jets would be a bad thing on any "Mech" since I was a 4 year veteran of MechWarrior 4 using Jump Jets in most every battle. He then showed me the Jump Jets and how he got the code to work and fire them using the "FireFlare" key. But of course that also fired the "Shield", so we just turned that off for the walkers and you get the flying mechs!
If you want to take a look at most of the custom weapons we made, take a look at the movie called "All Custom Weapons so far". That shows Mech TV missiles (made way before Northern Strike) and some other weapon goodies.

So will bunny hopping mechs be against the rules?
I invited everyone at the office to play Battlefield, but it was a rather one side match when I was the only who brought an assault rifle to work the next day :-)
