Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
With BF2142, Dice *finally* got it right. The previous BF titles were good for sure but they all had serious balance issues (chopper whores, blackhawk whores, noob toobs, PKM "sniper rifle", etc etc). When I first played 2142 I was blown away at how close to perfect they got the balance right off the bat.
The *only* things I miss from BF2 are grappling hooks and my DAO. Aside from that I won't shed a tear if I never touch that game again in my lifetime.
edit: I also miss the radio in the BF:V vehicles

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
This isn't a jab but everyone that complains about rushing everywhere also complains about the excessive pace and nade spam.
There's no reason to not take a very methodical and pragmatic approach to BF2142. Otherwise the weapons are more accurate, manuever is more effective, vehicles are better balanced, and infantry is more powerful. I think a lot of people applied BF2 strategies which of course aren't going to work when there's cover, multiple cooperative enemy squads, and less emphasis on bleed and flags.

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
Well I've been playing 2142 for a couple of months now and I'm thinking about still buying bf 2 (and then go play PR -> you can find this story in my blog) because I totally agree with the others, boring maps, far to fast-paced to use some serious tactics etc.

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
I would have to agree with Bommando, teamwork is much more rewarded and I like the pace. I have COD, BHD, BFV, BF1942, BF2, but when I replaced my hard drive the only game I reloaded was BF2142.

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
Cause project reality is the shiznit. lol
I've enjoyed 2142 in the past but I'm liking the slow pace of the games. As someone said befor 2142 doesn't alow to much for tactical manuevers, with exception of a few pathways everyone and the're mother know about. Air power isn't so overpowering as in vanilla, but still usefull and absolutly required. Finally when I point a weapon at someone it tends to die, Not this super human crap of taking half a clip to the chest.

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
I think the problem was with the points, I mean compared to bf2 getting points on 2142 was child's play. Within weeks some people had already reached generals and that was because of the combination of easy points through badges, ribbons and pins ect, and the fact that the ranks were so easy to reach. Even the highest ranks were only like 5000 points apart and with medals that can get you 2000 points it was not going to take long to get. It just didn't seem like a challenge in my opinion.

I've never had problems with hit detection ever. When I shoot you in the face with my baur or the engineer AV rocket, you fall down and die

Tearing structurally-superfluous new behinds with high caliber weapons since 2006.

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
It got a lot of unfair bad press when it was released. EA bashing and whining about the in game ads that turned out to be nothing big at all. A lot of people just didnt buy the game.
Titan mode wasnt exactly a success either. The lag and the exploiting.

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
One big advantage 2142 has over bf2 vanilla and I mean big advantage is the spawn beacon. There was a big gap between SM and SL. SLing in bf2 required remarkably different play compared to SMers, at least on TG servers. I remember regularly seeing posts in the bf2 forums where people expressed a desire to SL but also a worry that their amateur attempts would annoy their TG collegues. The beacon changes all that, and the gap between SM and satisfactory SL is much narrower, that a lot of people are willing to give SLing a go. This is in my mind a big step forward that DICE made.

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
It's still a huge problem. If you have a higher-end machine, you probably wont get much lag (I get zero lag on titan maps), but the titans are still buggy as hell. Sentry guns that shoot through walls, people that can sink through the floor and camp, bugged beacons that you cant shoot, and apparently theres a new glitch that allows you to walk right into the reactor room and destroy it before the titan's shields are even down. It's horrid.

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
When I shoot someone in the head with a rifle, they better damn well die. The weapons in BF2142 seem too inaccurate and weak compared to their counterparts in POE2 and PRM.
Also the gameplay is too hectic and "fragfesty" IMO.

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
I like em both myself,
bf2 for interesting comabt
bf2142 for action
i choose which one depending on my mood at the time
but i used to hate bf2142 cause i couldnt hit anything, then i read a guide and found out that just cause a weapon is an unlock it isnt always better than the standard ones...

Re: why more people play bf2 than 2142
what I really hate about 2142 is when I light somebody up, even with the HMG support weapon. They turn around and shoot me 2 or 3 times and I'm dead. That drives me nuts!
I never played bf2. Other than the problem I stated, I really like 2142.
