Thanks. Keep the feedback coming. I know one full round of Titan was played later. How was that lag?

It was good up to a point, then it got some really bad lag near the end.

I had some funny rubberbanding going on while I drove a buggy on the ground of the titan maps

Server seemed pretty good, but I got discoed about 3 or 4 times. Dunno if it was my crappy DSL or the server.

In other news, I finally got to say hi to the infamous Bommando! Pods away anyone?

Had one five second lag spike, but seemed like everyone else got it as well. Otherwise, ran pretty smooth for me!

on the titan the lag was pretty bad for me. I podded on and it took around 5 seconds for it to catch up to what i was trying to do.

Thats kinda how Titan can be when they're close together, but 5 seconds does seem high. I usually just kinda skip around a lot inside.

Re: New Hypernia Server Stress Test : Thu 19th Apr, 2007 @ 9PM EDT

Unfortunately, the server was close to un-playable for me.

In conquest mode with 48 players, I got periodic rubber banding and funky hit detection, despite pinging 40ms faster than normal. Titan mode crashed the server once and when we finally got it loaded, the server didn't seem to cope too well. I am used to high ping, but this was different. I'd be shooting straight through people on several occasions. Both guns on the transport were firing blanks most of the time and the one time I podded up to the Titan, I encountered an enemy and shot half a LMG magazine straight through someone. Literally straight through their body, then they disappeared off my screen in a flash. Flying around in the Transport was a slideshow at times.

I can unequivocally say this is not my system, nor ping-related. I have played on servers both in Australia and the US where I do not experience this kind of lag. My system can more than handle the Titan interior, let alone the exterior. This problem is server-side.

While Titan was worse, conquest was also nowhere near as smooth as the other server. It seemed worse for me, but others in my squad reported intermittent anomalies also.

The first time it loaded to a Titan map, i think someone actually changed the map causing it to crash.

It was fun watching the team work on the Conquest maps.

Unfortunatly someone left Hyperthreading turned on, that would account for the last crash where that was turned off.

I hope you can get it filled up again today, and give it another run

The crashes aren't really a problem, since they can be easily avoided. They usually follow a pattern and we usually know why they happen.

It's the rubber-banding and freezes during gameplay that are more of a concern for me and something I would like to get to the bottom of.

Exactly why i hope you'll have a full house again later today.

Turned off Hyperthreading etc, that should fix the unexplained lag with all the System resources being below its maximum capacity.

Re: New Hypernia Server Stress Test : Thu 19th Apr, 2007 @ 9PM EDT

My experience was very similar to Bommando’s report. The issues with the Titan mode did not worry me as much as the frequent hiccups on Conquest maps. There were a few large spikes in lag and the overall play was not as smooth as the other server.

I was afraid to say anything because my DSL does this too me a lot, but guess it wasn't just me. Experiences shooting through people a few times and discoed quite a few times.

Re: New Hypernia Server Stress Test : Thu 19th Apr, 2007 @ 9PM EDT

My experience was pretty negative. Titan lag was present (like it is on every server I've played and it's not due to my PC). Warping was present on non-titan maps too. There was a lot of surf-walking (people glide along the ground without moving their feet).

My ping was worse but acceptable. I checked the other players pings to the server, and while they were not bad, they were not stellar either.

IMO, the new Hypernia server is worse than our tried and true conquest. I do not know if the Hypernia server is meant to be a replacement for the conquest server. I certainly hope not.

Re: New Hypernia Server Stress Test : Thu 19th Apr, 2007 @ 9PM EDT

I'm you are going to have to give Hypernia a bad rating. I had found that my ping with twice as high usual, and when playing, I found that I had bouts of lagginess (which I hardly ever experience on the TG conquest server).

As for a titan server, I don't think you can host a server without experiencing some lag. You may find better servers, but you'll still have lag problems in such servers.

One solution is to build your own dedicated server, but then we get into matters of cost and maintainability.
