You may need to read the fine print.

Re: Starting a New inhouse squad
Honestly, not disrespecting your system, but there are too many things that revolve around being an sm. I would be one right now but paypal, is too complicated for me. I don't know but I seem to be the only one pointing these things out, probably because I have nothing to lose, everyone easily following of what others say, because they are admins or one of the high members of the community. I love this community, the best one I ever played in, but I believe that there should be some kind of opinion.

Re: Starting a New inhouse squad
Besides, superstitious people may not want to join your squad because of the number 13.
And TG Irr isn't too bad. I know quite a few good folks in Irr. I really haven't payed particular attention to the Irr's going-ons, but mainly because their forum is in the BF2 section :P

Re: Starting a New inhouse squad
What does the word vanity mean?
But seriously, you don't have to officially "Join" a squad at all. I, for example, play with the in-house squads quite a bit. I'm learning how each squad does things, how to respond to each different squad, and basically, learn the tactics each one uses (if you haven't noticed, 7th uses a lot of rockets, and one person in particular hates to see a Critically Wounded counter). Many people know me by now, and I've started seeing a lot more squad invites and buddy requests which i accidentally forget to accept before closing BF2142. Reaperassualt is a prime example of someone who is now officially and unofficial 3rd SFD. (sorry, it's so easy to use Reaper as an example because he's done everything, and he's more experienced in BF2142 than I am). Basically, there are no obligations to become a supporting member. Sure you may get booted out of the server every so often, and you get stuck in the reserves list in scrims, but it's a small price to pay! If anything else, just try to learn how to use paypal.

Re: Starting a New inhouse squad
Including the cost of hosting game servers. Nobody is required to be a SM, but without incentive to become one, we wouldn't have the resources that we do to support the games we want.

Re: Starting a New inhouse squad
It is important to give back to the community that has given us a good time and it would be a horrible shame to let some thing like not having enough money to pay for servers to stop this community. But hey, that's just my opinion.
