External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
OK, sorry, but this is going to be a big fat rant-a-thon.
I'd like to ask all you guys who play with external mics and speakers to strongly consider a headset. I don't need to name names, you know who you are ![]() I don't think you realise, but every time we talk and you have your mic open or get ready to respond, not only do we hear every freaking orbital strike and bullet blaring out of your speakers bashing us in the ear, but we are also treated to the sensual echo of the last sentence we uttered. Now, I'm not forcing anyone into a new purchase, but I'd just like to ask if you'd consider it out of the kindness of your heart as a peace offering to your fellow gamers with headsets. YOU ARE DRIVING US MAD! Thanks ![]() |

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem but for me: some people have their outbound extremely low, or ridiculously high for the in game VOIP

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
Sorry if my mic is causeing problems (and i know its static alot due to settings always getting reset) but the reason why my audio isnt through the headset is because i cant do my work flight plans, and have music on in the background because im out of headset reach. Im trying to find an audio spliter but not having any luck on a half decent one.

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
I think we should chip in some money and send them a cheap headset if they don't have one. And if they do have one a don't use it, then they should be beaten to death with a sock full of pennies.

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
Hell, I am still using the one the sent out for free with BF2. I ahve an extra one somewhere, where do I need to ship it? It works fine and has a mute switch built into the cord for the mic.

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
Err, after 5 hours with headphones on I'd like to have my OS strike blare over my commands to squads. It gives them a rude awakening and better response time

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
For only $27.99 (Plantronics .Audio 360 headset), less than the price of cup of coffee a day for a month, you too can support a tactical gamer. Your generous donation will ensure that this gamer will no longer suffer from the horrible ravages known as feedback and garble.
Periodically, you will recieve PMs from your gamer, describing the progress they are making thanks to your contribution. You will also recieve screenshots showing how their teamwork and squad leadership is improving. You will sleep better knowing that your gamer will not suffer at the hands of a particular Australian with a mad look in his eye.

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
lol
Another way too look at it, if you have any type of decent sound card, you'll be able to hear directional noises much easier. Unless you've got a nice speaker setup, its not really going to compare to headphones. Consider this, with my X-Fi and Sennsheir PMX100s, I heard a mechanic repairing his walker about 100m away on Minsk, or a beacon down in the woods south of Church from the middle of the road in Cerebere Landing. Don't think you'll be able to get that with run of the mill stuff, but thats the possibility you can get with headphones.

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
If I had my way I would require headset use on TG servers. Either bring a headset or go home. If you're not going to use a headset, than don't talk...but that's just my two cents....which doesn't add up to much.

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
I think as long as they can hear orders and acknowledge them (PgUp), and not taking and sort of leadership role (I.e., SM only), then it is ok, though communicating through VOIP is obviously preferred.

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
Everyone should have a headset anyway. It's the best way to listen to the ecstatic moaning of a pr0n movie without waking up your girlfriend.

Re: External Microphone / Speaker Intervention
The only time i can play is after putting the kids to bed which is local time 21:00 GMT+1 and later for me.
Being late and the fact that the wife sleeps 6 feet away from me i should be happy i can play at all! So sorry if i'm silent or writing in the stupid chat. I'm frustrated with the situation, but still i really try to use voip as often as i can. But even i have a decent headset so shame on everyone ![]()
