Re: |TG Irr| Chiefmedicman may want own in house squad?

Chief,

Just wanted to publicly give you my support for this squad. I had not seriously considered joining any of the in house squads until I saw this thread. It's squad leaders like you, moxmax and XeroEquality that keep me coming back. Nothing against the other in house squads, I have just never had a chance to be in your squads.

Samantha Fox with gunther! I am not sure who this legitimizes more. I still cant believe that gunther is real. I keep thinking I will come across some site that acknowledges that he is a parody.

I just took the plunge finally and became a supporting member just so I could join this squad!

Seriously though, thanks for all the exhilarating gaming, everyone. This place deserved my money.

Re: |TG Irr| Chiefmedicman may want own in house squad?

I'd be in support of Chief's squad, but I do not think putting Chief even in its long title is a good idea. I think it should have its own special name, likely devised by Chief, but putting the name in there just rings a bit too much of narcissism to me. I know that isn't meant and I know Chief isn't narcissistic himself, but it comes across that way to the passerby regardless and it isn't the kind of image you want to convey, you know? So another name would be better, say if you want to have a focus on SL and training good SLs/COs then perhaps "10th Tactical Training Group" (or Corps?) or "10th Field Infantry Command."

So, here's what I think... Make it the 10th, since that spot is open and its big, round, and divisions of 5 are nice and memorable/cool (imho), and come up with a nice name... advertise it as being led by Chief, sure, since he is a good leader and has made a name for himself here, and see how it goes. That is, if you get approval for it. I hope you do, as you are one fine SL and based on my admittedly limited experience I think you'd make a good IHS leader.

Myself, I plan on staying with the Irregulars for awhile first, and getting my feet wet here. I may stay put for good, or I may move on after awhile. Time will tell, but I'm happy where I am. Good luck in this endeavor though, and I hope you find success!

Crux thinks that if you want to be a member of Chief's squad, you need to re-write that first sentence as follows:

MenacingVitamin took the plunge finally and became a supporting member just so MenacingVitamin could join this squad!

Indeed! MenacingVitamin thinks this squad's members should refer to themselves in the 3rd person always. Even in battle!

:P

Why do I have a feeling if this gets off of the ground everyone in this squad will start making their posts in the third person?

EDIT: Oh no someone has already started it.

That would be ingenius!

Why am I seeing this squad with the nickname "The Doles?" Or would "The Bobs" be better?

Re: |TG Irr| Chiefmedicman may want own in house squad?

An in-house squad focused on accomplishing these goals would be a welcomed addition to the Battlefield 2142 community. While the process to create such a squad is quite simple, do not let this fact fool you into thinking it will be an easy endeavor. There is a lot of work that must be done to establish one and even more to keep the group focused on its mission.

I recommend contacting a few of the leaders from current units to gain some better insight and general advice about establishing, managing and leading an in-house squad.

Pfeil went and got all serious on us. But he is right. Lots of work, and it is worth picking people's brains (for ideas, not food!) to make sure you know what you're getting in for and can make as good a go of it as possible!

Re: |TG Irr| Chiefmedicman may want own in house squad?

First off thank you for all your support. As soon as I am settled in my new home I am going to put my attention straight into the new squad. ScIence if you could im having trouble finding the Wiki you were talking about, just email me it or something please. Final thought. The "Chief" Squad was in no way meant to be narcissistic in anyway. The title "Chief" was just to show a leader title such as, captains, leuitenants so on and so forth. If you read how the thread is, its about teaching and guiding and helping. Those are all things that someone of usual status does. Example, you wanna learn about spec ops go to the TG 3rd, Wanna know about frontational battle go to the 7th, so on and so forth every group has its specialty. I want the "Chief" squad to be different. So wanna learn commanding, squad leading, teamwork or even how to become a supporting member? Then go talk to the "Chiefs" they'll help you out, just as the non supporting members go to the "Irregulars" to join. I personally dont like the idea that the Possible "Chief" squad would only have supporting members, because I want everyone to learn so that no matter where I go in the battlefield series that somone who was with TG gained good knowledge and took it out in the battlefield world. That way the odds of me going to another server just to mess around I would have a good chance to get in a good squad, and enjoy my time there as well. On the end of that note:

I would like for all those interested in joining the "Maybe" "Chief" Squad to please message me via the battle net forums. Your names will be held in private until the date the new squad emerges. If by chance the squad is not made which I personnaly doubt, your names will never be mentioned at all.
Sincerely,
Chiefmedicman

Re: |TG Irr| Chiefmedicman may want own in house squad?

Tanknation,

In-House Squads other than the Irregulars are designated by numbers. If you want to start the 10th, 11th, 6th etc etc then you can always have their nickname be the "Chiefs" just as the 3rd's nickname is the Thunderbolts.

That's commendable. But your wants don't mean you get to circumvent the rules already in place for in-house squads.

As above, your wants don't dictate what is allowed. The Irregulars are the only in-house squad not requiring supporting membership. If you want to form a squad that doesn't require supporting membership, plenty already exist outside the framework of TG - which would be the appropriate place for what you are talking about.

If you are so dedicated to this concept of forming a squad that teaches people to be squad leaders, but want it available to everyone, then I strongly suggest you join the Irregulars and try to achieve your goal within their already existing framework. The Irregulars are always looking for people to step up to the plate and get things done, and they are a good, fun group.

If you continue to want something that does not fit within TG's structure, then maybe creating an in-house squad isn't the best thing for you to do. Try an out-house squad instead

Re: |TG Irr| Chiefmedicman may want own in house squad?

One thing you could do chief is to set up a squad whose purpose it is to educate people in the TG way. While this is the general purpose of all TGers, inhouse squads included, there is no squad whose primary purpose is to focus on training others. We do have TGU and the random Learn TG squad, but they are infrequently held. I think it would be cool and commendable to form an in-house squad whose primary mission would be to train others in the TG way. For ideas of nicknames and squad names, check out https://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/toc/courses.htm

That page lists some typical military training courses. Forming such an in house squad would be of great service to the community. I would envision your mission would be to train your members to train others in the TG way. basically train people how to squad lead and command properly, and then have them start squads where they taught others how to play the TG way. I am sure you could get a lot of support for this type of a squad from your fellow TGers, myself included. I would see it sort of like a permanant learnTG squad.

I think going outside of TG to start your own clan and making TG the home of the clan only to avoid naming requirements or supporting member status is really bad move. I think many TGers would find it insulting and selfish if you did that.

I searched for the link in the wiki that described the squad size requirements, but could not find it. I recall that the size limit was set to 26 or so. To start your squad, get some guys together that wish to form it with you, decide on a name etc, and pm someone in charge. I forget who to PM for this. :/ if somone could post that up, I would appreciate it.

one thing I found while searching was this very old post:
