This post hits the nail on the head. Playing with the same group of people over a period of time helps as well.

i think in general most people use lower sensitivities to good effect. With my mouse, i have three sensivities (technically, it's three different dpis, but i think the effect is the same), and i use the lower one for infantry combat (the second up is for tank, walker, apc, etc. use and the highest is all the way up for rail gun).

The truth is that the ability to make small adjustments is far more needed than being able to make a 180 turn to return fire at your back. if someone is close enough that the sensitivity would matter, the fact they're hitting you in the back means they're going to kill you. even if you can turn around, zoom and center in time, the likelihood that you'll manage to get a kill is slim. Close range, the faster sensitivities just make you go wild and it's nearly impossible to keep track of your enemy.

However, at low sensitivities, aiming is much easier even at a distance. Even if someone fires on you at a 90 degree angle to you, you're likely to get a shot off FASTER than if your sensitivity is way up.

At least that's the way I see things. I'm sure some people manage to have great success with high sensitivities, but I think if you talk to the absolute best players on the server, you'll find that they tend to use lower to medium ones.

'zactly. I mean - if you are causing havoc to an assaulting (or defending squad).. there are 12 eyes looking for YOU. If you aren't in a squad that is working out the situation with their collective brain (at least using the half that is left in my case) - you are toast every time.

All it takes is a spot and a word from the communicating SL or a word to the communicating SL from his SM's and you are gone - Unless your tag is Mantis or (the absent but famous) Robocop, but that is only because their brains are wired into the BF2 PoE hive-mind and there is no escape.

The wording was intentional and the question for real. And i'm a player, this name wasn't made up for this post. lol

Some of the guys (i'm not gonna use names to blow up their egos heh) are fast one-on-one, and i was wondering if maybe they had special hardware or something. I had plans on a new mouse, this post just confirmed it.

And thanks to Hidus, i lowered my graphics settings to all medium. That helped!

I tend to have an innate ability to react fast to situations. However, i must confess that my accuracy is not worth...anything anyone has to offer.
So thats why whenever i turn the corner and see someone there, it's either an instant kill, or 3 or 4 bullets flying past your head (in which case I'm either dead or running back around the corner to get ready to defend).

Some people have good reflexes, others do not. Chances are, young people will have faster reflexes. But reflexes only give you that extra second to get your cursor over your target. It's the accuracy which kills. And accuracy is gained through practice (which i have not been doing as of late).

I may have to get on some time in the near future and see how bad i've gotten.

Heh, here I was thinking I was pretty damn good at this game, finishing usually top 5 on our severs and almost always top 3 on others. Faced a clan last night in a match for TGL, and they were amazing. Simply put, if they saw you, you died. Crux put it pretty well, "At least the 7th seem like humans, these guys, wow."

Most of the ones that react fast and kill you with just a few rounds tend to have very good hardware in my opinion (at least compared to my sucky 7600GS @ 20fps during firefights). The other part is the skill due to smooth framerates and insanely low ping (13!).

I run off a IBM Lenovo T60p (ATI MOBILITY FireGL 5200 256mb) with crappy bluetooth optic mouse, and I still seem to do decently well. It's really tough to get in those distance shots, but for close quarters combat it does okay. I also run at 1400x1500 screen res because that's what my monitor is designed for (that way i don't get mixing of pixels). And finally i got the graphics turned down so i get good FPS.

And this is why I stopped playing counterstrike a year ago.
