I agree with mantis to a large extent. The only other situation would be a learning environment, such as my situation 2 days ago where I had a friend who was brand new to 2142 and asked me to help him learn the game, so I brought him to the conquest server and locked a squad with he and I in it so we could proceed with some instructional time unhindered. But like I said, this isnt a frequent practice, so it shouldnt be a problem. However, I also made sure to check with the admin on duty to make sure that it was alright to be doing so.

Maybe the IHS's could at least add the word "practice" to the squad name to be friendly in communicating why the squad is locked. As far as breaking up a squad, the 9th often does that just to get others in the action. A lot of time, we will split sides and run a 9th squad on both sides.... Of course, there are times when we want to play as a squad and just happen to have all six slots filled.

I choose to defend myself here. I really think a 6 man sniper squad would be a bad idea that why I locked it a three.

Everyone has reasons to lock a squad - most of which we can understand - still tho at the end of the day that situation looked awefully funky

Oh I remember him, he invited me into his squad. Since Ultra knew him he joined and I joined after him. He was, umm, quite a character. Very, umm....enthusiastic.

Nice thread. I never lock my squads and I try not to start my own if there are empty slots in others.
