Re: Nostromo Loadout
My next upgrade is the mouse. With the n52 I think I've maxed out what I can do with my left hand. Now its time to get more function with my right.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
It took me a long while to finally figure out what to put on the left and right tilt actions. One way is TeamSpeak's "press to talk" and the other is setup as either a TS whisper or TS channel commander to channel commander whisper. I have the middle click set to 'nades, but I never think to use it. The thumb button is set to Squad VoIP.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
I looked at Nostromos and didn't really think they would suit me, so i bought a Zboard ZFang monstrosity. It's harder to get used to than my keyboard, i'l tell you what. But it does have buttons for most everything and a decent software. It's basically a split off Merc keyboard with a bit more buttons.

Although now i'm looking at a WolfKing Warrior, it seems a lot more easy to get used to but I don't know what the programming software, etc is like.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
Since you're not a fan of the Nostromo, looking at what you've got here, I'd go with the Wolf King. The closer spacing of the keys and more natural layout make more sense.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
That's a good idea. The last game I used my n52 for was World of Warcraft, though, and I got so used to using the swiss cross as the location for my shift toggle keys that I'm pretty sure placing them elsewhere would really screw me up.
So I use the west key (as you're looking at it head-on) as my red shift (weapons) and the south key as my vehicle shift. So far, it's working pretty well for me.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
I'm not really big on those wacky shaped buttons on the wolf king... got a couple triangle keys in there we as well as a bunch of curved ones. There is something to be said for consistency.
One of my main complaints with the n50 and n52 is general build quality. They are just really cheap. I've had buttons wear out or lose their sensitivity over time. Would be nice if it was possible to buy a higher quality ver with better key action/sensitivity.
Anyone remember these things?
I briefly tried using one before I got onto the n50. They really are more suited to RTS's though.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
Just my 2 cents here fellas...I have been using the n52 now for almost 2 years and I love it. The way your hand lays on the device is very natural and very, very comfortable. My only complaint is that I wish they could add another row of keys across the top for easier "f" key and "number" key access. My loadouts are all customized the way that I like them, with all the core and movement keys remaining the same on all games. Good luck

Re: Nostromo Loadout
If they added another row, many people under the age of twelve and most women wouldn't be able to use the top keys. It's uncomfortable for me to reach the top left-hand corner of the thing unless I shift my whole hand. But it's not like they can't just diversify the product, right? After all, younger kids and women are not exactly their target market...

RE: Nostromo quality...
Having bought mine used, I noticed the sensitivity issue right away. My scroll wheel button is totally kaput. Not a problem since I don't use it, but still.
On the other hand, for what it's worth, it took me a week to get used to, but I totally love it now. I can't say my scores really reflect that love, but I can live in hope.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
Heh, I bought mine new and never felt the scroll wheel worked quite right. The same could be said for the "Big Red Button".

Re: Nostromo Loadout
You know, I really don't know of anyone who actually uses the scroll wheel on the Nostromo. The n52 is the second version I've used for gaming, and neither it nor the previous version really encourage use of the scroll wheel. It's not placed well, for one thing, and it never seems to scroll properly. It's about the only button I don't use, though, since I have my VOIP push to talk button set to the red button. I have yet to have problems with key sensitivity, even with my push to talk button. (I like having that on my thumb because I don't use my thumb for movement, except jumping.) I've been using this particular n52 for almost two years now.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
Recently I mapped the sroll up and down keys to "Page Up" and "Page Down" on normal mode and "F1" and "F2" in red shift state. I find that I really have to scroll it hard to get the keystroke to actually work right. Now I just have to train myself to use them
.

You guys are KILLIN me! The D pad is for movement!
I have a bunch of macros already in a profile and a double tap run .exe script to help you run with the D pad. Here is my web page address with more info and pictures.
