Although now i'm looking at a WolfKing Warrior, it seems a lot more easy to get used to but I don't know what the programming software, etc is like.

You fingers can access more keys on a standard keyboard. Get the Nostromo n52 and use the D-Pad for movement. The other controllers are a waste of money, unless you dont use the D-Pad and need macros.

I've often thought about trying this for vehicles. How well does it work vs the typical WASD?

The D-pad works better than the WASD keys. It will take you about 2 weeks to get the hang of it the new controls.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
This thread has been interesting...
I currently don't own any gamer pads, but my key assignments are set to use the numeric keypad which generally is pretty effective (since they're all on a lattice, just like the gamer pads). The only downside is that it forces your keyboard far over to the left side of your desk and can be a bit cumbersome for that reason.
After reading this thread and finding the n52 for $30, I decided to put in an order for a n52 and give it a spin (thanks, btw, to the guys who posted their keymaps--that'll be a handy starting point).

You should try my profile and script first. It will take you about 2 weeks to get a hang of the new key layout.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
There are no prebuilt profiles available from Belkin, but there are quite a few to be found around TG. I think mine is in this very thread somewhere, if not let me know and I'll dig up a link to it again.

Re: Nostromo Loadout
-Threadsurrects-
So upon coming back from my deployment, I decided to splurge a little and get an n52.
Only problem is, it seems they stopped making them, and now they make instead an 'n52te', which apparently has major, major issues, shoddy firmware and software... long story short, I refuse to get it just to have some glorified backlight...
Thoughts? Places to get one?

Re: Nostromo Loadout
Weird, Amazon told me they were sold out, and I've had terrible experience in the past with refurbished input devices - stuck keys, glitchy inputs...
Everywhere that doesn't sound shady are all refurbished...

Re: Nostromo Loadout
this is it other than something like ebay or criegslist which is deffenatly shady and/or refurbished.
Belkin stopped making them and all the bit retailers sold the n52s off a while ago to make way for the N52te. I picked one up but its too small for my big hands, maybe you'd like to make an offer for mine?

Re: Nostromo Loadout
Just picked up the N52te today. Can't wait to get home and start toying with it. I've been getting increasingly aggravated playing with the standard keyboard, because there's always some keystroke that's just a little awkward to get to, or not where my fingers expect it to be, like my prone key has been 'Z', 'X' and 'C' and I can't ever freaking seem to hit it consistently no matter which one I use. I like how the 52te feels with the keys aligned with each other instead of offset like a standard keyboard, feels like it could be a little less hit and miss for gaming. I'm also starting to wear out keys I think, like my left Ctrl key which I use for crouching. Half the time when I press it, my character pops up and down like an idiot.
