I think the 32 player server would be a great idea! Although I find the 16-player version on Tunis in our rotation is fun, as it is a nice break-up in the sequence, I would hate to see all 16 player maps with 32 players. They are designed for certain amount of players for a reason.

I agree, this is a fantastic idea! I especially like the fact it's unranked, for the same reason G--Man just stated.

I like the 32 player idea, NS last friday was cool and there's more tactics going on with 32 players than otherwise.

A bit offtopic perhaps but i've always wanted to know why we don't have a little server hosted in Europe? Could be good for TG growth and recruitment no? I know some reasons like different interfaces for admin, scripts, and hosting with another company issues. It all involves more work. But still, i think about all the good things it could get TG too. Any thoughts?

I think this is only part of it, the other part is the fact that not everyone had most everything unlocked. The odds of picking up an assault kit and finding rockets were slim, today if you would be hard pressed to find a kit without them. This is not a fact at all, it was a suggestion. I would like to see it unranked for two reason: tweak the settings and keep some of the point mongers away.

The titan server is seeing more action lately and we are a bit hesitant to mess with the current system of titan/ns nights on it.

We are strongly considering lowering the player count on our conquest server.


An unranked night is something in the works as well.

I believe the style that you find at TG is better suited for the smaller 32 player maps. There aren't very many 64 player maps in rotation, none that I know of at least. Having a strictly 32 player server seems a little odd to me, but something inside me tells me to be all for it. The Titan server doesn't seem to be too popular. I know that sometimes when the Conquest server goes down, some of us hop onto the Titan server till it gets back up. Maybe city/no armor maps?

Anyone that finds themselves dying to rockets a lot needs to rethink their playstyle and movement patterns. They are either too predictable and/or staying in one place too long.

A few tips:

- If you are getting shot at and you duck behind some cover, just understand that you have about 2 - 3 seconds to get out of there before a volley of rockets comes in. Make sure you are somewhere else when they arrive.

- If you are up on a ledge firing down at people, back off while reloading and count the number of explosions. Start moving back in so that when the 4th one goes off you are ready to pop your head up and return fire.

- When an ally dies to rockets, count the number of rocket explosions, wait for a gap then dart in for your revive and get out asap because the next salvo is already on the way.

- When you lay rockets down on playground flag move immediately after firing because there is a very high probability you have rockets incoming on your position. Vary your firing positions so that you are hard to pin down.

- If you see some teammate standing still on a catwalk or ledge firing down at people, make sure you sprint past him. Whatever you do, don't stand near him because he is a gigantic rocket magnet and he will get you killed.

Well, my only fear is that this change-up, especially if its going to be on the Conquest server, is that it'll be even harder to get a spot on. Of course most are saying that a lot of the "pubbies" will leave if its unranked, possibly freeing up space for non-SM-TGers to hop on. But I do believe there are quite a few "pubbies" that will play on the server no matter of its ranked status.

On the discussion on ranked vs non-ranked...I am for un-ranked nights to change up gameplay, to modify ticket counts or change things up that we cant do on a ranked server but from a TG growth standpoint, if we went un-ranked all the time, I belive this would be a bad idea. As a newer 2142 player, ranking up for unlocks was very important to me, especially when I first started playing 2142. If we go un-ranked, we may close our doors to future TG members who may never find us due to the fact that they are wanting to play on ranked servers. Just food for thought...
