Can't post URL to fudzilla site as I don't have a high enough post count, but..
"Word has reached us today from a reliable source, that any plans that might have been in the pipeline for an Expansion Pack or additional Booster Packs for Battlefield 2142, look to have been scrapped. Rumors say that the sales for the title were just "OK" and the number of players playing the game continues to dwindle. Dice has all hands on deck for the production of Battlefield: Bad Company for the Xbox 360 using the new "Frostbite" engine, in addition to the other mystery project that they are working on. Rumors that Battlefield: Bad Company will also be released for the PC continue to be unconfirmed by Dice regardless what other sources are saying. Only time will tell if this title will be ported over to the PC platform as well. Development and bug fixes of the 1.40 patch with the Highway Tampa map for 2142 continue, but no word on a potential release date has indicated yet. The 1.40 patch could be the last for 2142 if our source is correct." Well I will be around for a long while yet. Got lots of badges and unlocks I still need! (plus BF2142 cured me of my WoW addiction ) |

Re: Not sure how accurate 'fudzilla' site is
They originally said there wasn't going to be any other expansions for 2142. As far as porting Bad Company, it looks kinda too arcadey for my tastes.

It's far from a 'sky is falling' titbit. Just maybe goes someway to explain why 1.40 never seems to be getting any closer. To be honest, although expansion packs can be nice, in this type of game they are far less necessary than something like an MMORPG. I get my fun from the ever-changing responses of other *people* in a game, not the coded reactions of a level xx rat which got a new colour scheme in an expansion. |

Re: Not sure how accurate 'fudzilla' site is
One benifit to this and no more patches is it will allow modders to make more defind mods without worry of a patch to mess coding up. I think there will be some awesome mods in the future like BF2.

Well, hopefully they use their last patch to fix the assault weapon 5-6 button inversions between the default and the unlocks. Quite frustrating, that is. :/
