TG initilization ceremony?
Hi all, i was just going to post a simple hello in the sticky but i had a few extra issues i needed to ask first. anyway i'll quickly intro myself before i get into the questions i have to ask.
i'm 16, living in the bay area. ive played many fps'es before, but almost exclusively single player. the multilayer components never interested me because of their one-dimensional gameplay and kill-to-win scoring system. not to mention the hordes of prepubescent kids who constantly taunt and argue with the serious gamers. on the other hand just yesterday i came across a young kid on a pub server who had the whole teamwork thing DOWN. but here i go off topic again haha. anyway, the main reason why i'm so interested in TG is because i'm tired of wasting my already limited time grinding it out on pub servers with a 5% probability of a satisfying game (or actually, squad/commander). so, on to the problems i have. the first thing is something that i don't think i saw while reading the server rules, and that is controlling the flight of the slsb pod. when i play i usually deem it fair for me to move myself behind someone camping the beacon (which from the rules i suspect won't be a problem on the TG servers anyway), or if the beacon is on the titan, because that area is usually being heavily camped as well. i don't think that using it to get on rooftops in Berlin or Gibraltar is fair however, that's just plain cheap. some clarification on how this works on the servers would be great. the second problem is if i join a TG server, is there something i can put in my clan tag to tell TG people that i'm new to this and need some help adjusting? i do use voip but i suspect that the complicated communications ceremonies that i read about will be hard for me to memorize in my first game. well to conclude i'm a rather modest person, and pretty quiet by nature. hopefully you guys will find me quite likable although i've tried researching ways to better my game online, i'm not very good at 2142 teamwork-wise, mainly due to lack of opportunities to actually demonstrate/learn this. going to try and change that, with TG's help of course! any help to my problems will be greatly appreciated, checking back tomorrow.night all, and thanks for reading. |

Your best bet is to get acquainted with a squad led by a TG-tagged player, especially a numbered one with an In-House Squad who can guide you on your way. Sounds like you've already read the rules. The FAQ will help you along if you haven't skimmed it already. Welcome. |

Re: TG initilization ceremony?
Sounds to me like you're already in TG! Anyway, welcome. Look for "Learn TG" squads, or jump into a squad led by someone in TG tags, especially a numbered TG squad or an In House Squad like Bommando suggested. Then, speak up and say you're inexperienced. No one will kick you out or ridicule you, instead you'll just get extra guidance.

Re: TG initilization ceremony?
Welcome aboard. Don't be to confused about our rules that you scare yourself silly. Just stick with your SL and you'll be fine here. As for the SOPs Bommando is talking about, we been wanted to get them fixed for some time now and been kinda on the back burner. I have deleted the ones that have no place in 2142 and looking to see if the ones left behind need tweeking for 2142. SOPs do make RL tactics into something we can use here at TG. There are many games here at TG. Anytime we can get some sort of RL tactic into a game, we just took one step closer to the primer.

Re: TG initilization ceremony?
Oh oh look at those glass shoes with +9 int! (shes not a elf, shes a alien!)
We put them there becasue they are used to some degree. How many times have I been told to hold fire and move past a chokepoint? how many contacts have been called out incorrectly? how many more locked non-asset squads are we going to see? Get my point? There is a place for SOPs in any game. They just need to be molded to that game. There are talks abotu adjusting and possibly adding new SOPs to 2142 that make more sense. But it's just talks for now.

Re: TG initilization ceremony?
I didn't say SOPs aren't needed. I was saying all the crazy ones you copied from Ghost Recon aren't needed (although looking back at the SOPs you have removed the overly absurd ones).

Re: TG initilization ceremony?
The only initialization process here is to accidentally TK at least one IHS member while being in their squad. If you manage to take out the entire squad in one go, then it's a sign of a very bright future in TG.
Perhaps you'll soon get your chance ^^

Re: TG initilization ceremony?
If you catch Bommando on sometime, Hop in his squad and chuck a gernade at his feet when he tells his squad to spawn on him. You'll learn TG real quick after the point.

Re: TG initilization ceremony?
There are varying degrees of "accidental". Think "plausible deniability".
I like to start off every 2142 session with a good grenade teamkill - it's my way of warming up.
