How to rank major general.

Recently I've become a Brig. Gen. but is that the end of the line?? In my log in screen I can see a Major General promotion, but my score will no longer go up. Says something like 5987/0. This is making me sad. I hope it is just a bug but I'm beginning to feel it is not since its been like a week. Any ideas on how to keep on ranking? I read somewhere that once you reached a certain rank there were classified goals or something of those sorts. Don't know where I read it but I think it was on BF2142 website in the support area. Well anyhoo not going to make me stop playing. I will see you all on the battlefield!

No one knows how the last three rankings work...

Re: How to rank major general.

Major General and above are ranks awarded by EA. Once you reach Brig General you can no longer advance simply by gaining points. There is also a set number of people that can hold each of these ranks at a time. EA will not reveal what there criteria for chooising these ranks though thre are several theories.

Yeah well hopefully my name will be in the alphabits sometime soon. Thanks for the quick replies. My gut feeling was correct this is going to be a long road.

It seems to be very random, the first person who got Supreme Commander for example was promoted because he was the first to collect 2142 unique dog tags.

Wow, thanks G. I have never seen this before but knew that they would post the information eventually.

Re: How to rank major general.

That doesn't seem right, a lot of people really low on the leaderboards (compared to other BG) have MG and LG status....

For example, I have double the career points and double the global points of Bellicosity (DLBlue) yet he is LG and I am BG. my K/D was higher and SPM was about the same. The only condition you mention that I can't check is "2000-5000 In A Round Score during the week" (not sure what this means).

Seems horribly random to me.

Re: How to rank major general.

Just think about it...college kids like me will never see anything higher than a BG. When do we have the time to achieve 2000 points in a week? That's crazy!

I don't know about the rest of you, but the most I've ever gotten in a week was 1700 points and I spent the better part of my waking hours of that week playing 2142.

Silly me, I was thinking someone not in college like myself would never be able to hit 2000 points in a week like a college kid could.

Re: How to rank major general.

Are these 2000 regular points, as in no awards count for it? Thats a lot of effort. If awards count, its easy with Legion of Merit glitches happening frequently.

Re: How to rank major general.

I'd say "Points in a Round" count as "points in a round" and not career points. While points in a round are then converted to career points, they are not the same thing. The points you get from ribbons, badges, and medals are all career points and not actually gained in a round.

Basically if you score 30 points in 100 matches you will have 3000 points in a round for the week. I'd have to wager a guess that this is also done on a week by week basis not counting the career points total. So someone who is an up and coming BG who plays night and day and garners 10000 points that week (that's 100 matches with 100 PiaR) will have a good shot as SC as opposed to someone who has 10 times the play time and career points who played only semi-seriously and got 3000 points.

Here's something else to chew on. In TG servers I average around 50-60 points per round with a max of just over 100 points. Using the average it would take me 37 (36.36 repeating) matches to make 2000 points in a round for that week. If each match takes 20 minutes then thats 740 minutes or 12.3 hours. Basically playing on the TG servers I can get 2000 PiaR a week by playing 1.76 hours a day or around 5-6 rounds (3 maps of 2 rounds each).

Oh whoops, should have included those who are out in the working world too. Sorry Rob.

I think the only ones that might have time would be high schoolers and middle schoolers (or those home schooled).

Re: How to rank major general.

Actually I would think only college kids and the unemployed would have a real shot. In high school you've got classes you *have* to go to, parents telling you to do chores. College kids are the only ones with the free time!

Re: How to rank major general.

Yeah, last year at about this time, I was pretty highly ranked due to overplaying this game instead of taking a nap between classes. Wasn't at TG at the time, but if I had been, pretty sure I woulda been in the running for the lowest of the "higher," ranks.

That's not my experience. I have less time to myself in college then I did in high school. And I'm still living at home, so tidying around the house is still expected.

Maybe when I'm on Winter Break, I might have a chance to try out this "formula" for success.
