In-house Squads for Dummies
No, I'm not going to talk about how In-house Squads (are) for dummies. I'm going to talk about some of the basics of In-house Squads. What is an In-house Squad (IHS) An IHS is simply a group of players who have banded together under a single title / tag within the Tactical Gamer (TG) community. These players have the desire to work together as a unit within the greater TG team. Some In-house Squads focus on only one game or mod, while others have interest and participate in multiple games / mods. What is the purpose of an IHS? There tends to be one single overarching purpose of an IHS, and that is to grow and learn from friends to become a better functioning unit as a whole than the sum of the individual parts. In other words, the members of an IHS learn and practice to function stronger together. However, each IHS does have their own goals and desires. Some players have come together for the enjoyment of roleplaying and diving deeper into the finer aspects of simulation gaming, acting out their roles on the battlefield. Other players have formed an IHS because they enjoy the laughter and commentary that can only exist amongst friends. All In-house Squads are becoming better team players in their own way. What are the requirements / restrictions of an IHS?
How do I start an IHS? Creating an IHS is rather simple. If you already have a group of friends that you regularly squad up with and would like to officialy form an IHS, then determine your squad numerical designation and contact me (asch) to setup your private forums, group leader(s), teamspeak channels, etc. If you are looking to find players for your new IHS, or wish to recruit additional players, then feel free to make a post in these forums with the details about your IHS. The method by which your IHS recruits is left completely up to you. I'm not a supporting member, but I would like to participate with friends like an In-house Squad. We understand that not all players have the means or desires to become a supporting member. Do not fret, for there are several options at your disposal. The first option is to create your team and contact me (asch) with the details. We will setup a private discussion forum on our sister site, TacticalConflict. This is not technically an IHS and does not receive all of the benefits an IHS receives, but it does allow for you to continue to work towards the goal of becoming a better team unit. The second and most common option is to look at the Irregulars. The Irregulars fall somewhere between a full In-house Squad and option one. The Irregulars have a public discussion forum and accept supporting and non-supporting members alike wihtout the size limitations. The Irregulars also server as a stepping stone into joining the ranks of a full IHS, as many In-house Squads recruit from this pool of players. I'm interested in the In-house Squad concept, but I don't know which IHS to join or I'm not ready to start my own IHS. See option two above and have a look at the Irregulars.

Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine, regardless of the level of advantage, if any, it gives over the opposing team." -- Tactical Gamer Primer |
