Re: Avoid Getting Knifed?

As Draeh said, max out sound quality, it helps quite a lot, in the gunship, while sniping et.c.

And when you see a knifer behind you, turn around and run. If possible jump into the water. Or if hes atleast 5 meters behind you shoot him, but if you are confident in your knifing skills, try to knife him, its good wportsmanship to answer to a challenge.

(and still i usually dont do this stuff myself....)

Bah, when you hear the knife, sprint forward 3 meters, turn around and backpeddal. You got the perfect shot right there.

Damonte is very fond of killing with the defibber.

You really can't beat seeing your enemy jolt backward flying through the air.

I shock paddled someone in BF2 last night, great defense against bunnyhoppers apparently.

In fact, next time I have a squad that runs into a knifing bunnyhopper, I'm calling everyone to pull out defibs, no worries about friendly fire then!

Whenever you shock paddle a TG BF2 regular, its usually followed by a roar of laughter in the TS channel.

Re: Avoid Getting Knifed?

I have to agree with rage. No need to answer a knife with a knife when a gun will do even better. And if you get knifed, so what. I try to stick to the squad I am in and at least expect the knifer to die and I get revived meaning it didn't hurt the round for my team but most likely did for his since no one will be around to revive the knifer.

Nuck J
I do this, but I never expect anyone else to, I simply do this because it's more fun, in the heat of battle, a little personal fight. Of course, either of you could get blasted to pieces by anyone coming round the corner, but oh well. IMO, it shouldn't be something that you have to do. Quoting something that I read somewhere written by someone:
Quote:
do whatever helps you sleep better at night
Here's my opinion as someone who has knifed more than been knifed (I'm guessing, someone can check my stats if they want, but I'm pretty sure...? )

It's basically down to common sense. If you're trying to get a back flag, and you are alone (and therefore have no cover) then keep checking behind you, because a knifer won't be satisfied with shooting someone in the back (I know I'm never satisfied with shooting someone that doesn't see me, I've been killed countless times trying to get knifes, when I could have just shot them, but I've also got many tags this way). You have to put yourself in the position of a knifer. Always be over paranoid. When you're not in a firefight with lots of cover, all it takes is someone coming round the corner seeing you, and wanting a dog tag, maybe having extra incentive because they just got knifed themselves, or someone spawning at a back flag by accident, and happen to see you running by, over-confident that you've just slipped past the team unnoticed. If you think you're ever in a position where someone can come from and knife you, that's probably what will happen. Always keep looking around, especially when you're stationary for whatever reason, maybe you're camping, maybe you're taking a flag, but how many times have we been waiting at a flag, and a knifer manages to get us when we're not looking, or somehow, they just get to you before you can do anything about it. One way to avoid this is to stay crouched instead of prone when taking a flag. If you see someone bunny-hopping towards you, you can move out of the way, as opposed to being stranded on the floor, which is a much easier target for a knifer.

The more you knife, the more you'll understand when knifers get their opportunities, and then you'll know when you're at possible risk of being knifed. And then just keep looking around, like draeh said, look around and keep check your surroundings.

One last point, an APM never stopped me getting the tag of a knifer, NEVER. I just crouch whenever I'm about to get a sniper I know is there (e.g. Sidi, that giant tower on one of the silos next to the middle one). I always climb up that, just to see if a sniper is there, crawling the whole way.

There were 6 APMs laid out (3 snipers here) and I went past all of them, by simply crouching/proning, and then I got my rewards. I couldn't believe my luck as I came round the corner.

And yes, I have finally gotten a photobucket account,

Just a warning to all you knifers who think recon players are easy knife kills.
That was obviously a terrible knifer, I've only been RDXed a few times, when I was an inexperienced knifer, and hadn't faced it much before. Because I use RDX so much now, I know exactly what to do and when, when someone lays down RDX. Since I'm not knife crazy, at this point I would have taken my gun out and given you a lead feast, by which time you couldn't take out your gun, and would've simply exploded the RDX to try and do something, but alas, nothing. But if I was close enough, I'd pursue with sprint, and either get you before you detonated (I don't back down when a knifer draws) or taken you with me in the RDX blast. Or if you just clipped me, I would still just get you. The most likely of these is that you would clip me, as you would want to make sure you were out of range, and therefore I would be out of range, and as you detonated, it would be the opening to cut you down, or if I wasn't confident I could get you with the knife, I'd line you with lead quickly.

I don't know if I'll get accused of statpadding here, but I used to go on the occasional knife server. But only ones without admins. Why? I here you ask...Because I could practice against both knifers, and RDXers/gunners, with my knife. I would learn how to deal with different situations, and even though I was terrible when it came to 1-on-1s with really great knifers, and I think I lost about 300 dog tags playing on these servers, and got about 100, I knew that, that skill would not be as useful, as knowing what to do against normal players. Now when I knife in real games, I'm much better. I remember taking at least 2 in the last TG scrim, and I've been using it less as well.

Aw man...something just occurred to me. That's basically a challenge isn't it. To get your tag. And I can never say no to a knife fight, it's a terrible trait. I always add people as buddies that get my tags, and if they accept my buddy invite, i go after their tags whenever they're on, whatever server they are playing on, I don't rest until I have their tag, and then I delete them after I have their tag. So dude, what times you play 2142? And what is your time zone? Even though I'm not going to be playing 2142 for like AGES, and you probably play a really late time in my timezone, I really want your tag now...

Edit: Yes, I remember seeing those videos, I was looking for any bf frag vids, and I thought it looked interesting. The BANG and then MAN DOWN! MAN DOWN! was just priceless, I was really waiting for some sort of amazing manoeuvre. What was so great is that neither the description, the title, or the presentation gave anything away.

NB: I would never do this. Running with just a knife face on to someone with a shotgun is just...just read that sentence again.

Running with just a knife face on to someone with a shotgun

I mean, do I really need to say anything about how stupid that is...?
