Titan tactic

I hit on a new tactic recently though someone may have already gotten it. When your trying to make it in to courdior 1 and 2 on a titan its real hard because there can be a lot of gernade spam sentry guns and defenders.

I have found that if you drop a pile of motion mines in the passage and then toss a motion mine bait down the hall you will clear out the passage. Better players will see it and run away and be out of defend postion not so good players will stand there and die with the sentry guns.

Twice I used this on a titan map that had the defenders stopping us cold and it worked.

Re: Titan tactic

I've heard this mentioned once before, but only in theory. I'm glad to see it work in practice, as I hate to see the corridor become a 'nade-fest. Sentry guns can be shot by attackers, but 'nade spamming by defenders is just lame. Good work finding a way to clear them.

And since if you are performing this tactic you'll be an Engie, don't forget that you'll have a lovely AV weapon for console duty or, more importanly, for IPS duty.

Which leads me to a good question, will MMs+MMB take down IPS's as well?

Re: Titan tactic

IPS?

I just tested this after the patch on a non TG surver on my own titan and it seems that the bait falls though the floor and the mines don't detonate about 2/3 of the time (after 3 bait throws)

Usualy the mines move in to where the bait is and then sit there they dont have the behivor of going around the bait a few times. The times they exploded the mines went right to where the bait seemed to be and exploded right away.

I did get the mines to go in to the core once and detonate killed one and caused about 25% core damage vecause the mines were not close to the mark.

Depending how bad of a stand off it may still be worth trying to do on passages 1 and 2 for the core rifle rockets are alot better.

For anyone that did not know, if you are up top and you sight in on the side of the wall in front of the core and then move your explode point out a few clicks you will be able to pound on the core with out even holdingthe core room while your keeping defenders from moveing to fire back at you through the core.

Not read them ... hahaha thats just what they want you to think I stole them and doctorced it to make it look like it was my idea dateing back to 1856 superceeding any idea of motion mines and throwing bait though back then it was about a dog and throwing a t-bone steak for him but regardless I own the patten now <evil laugh>.

It worked well before this last patch I think.

Re: Titan tactic

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but I believe Lyra was the the first one to actually bring this idea up and eventually debunk it due to the mines and bait not acting normally within the Titan model.

Talking Re: Titan tactic

Well we can always try loading a squad leader drone up with rdx and sending the squad leader on a suicide run down the hallway.

Re: Titan tactic

Too bad they don't work correctly with the Titan model. That's a nifty strategy. And how do you send the drone down the hallway? Cloak the SL?

"Oh look fellas, an Otis is coming our way! Hmm, I don't see the enemy Squad Leader, he must not be there. "Well, let's shoot at it anyways." Okay."

I've read of this (in theory) outside of the TG forums before ever seeing anyone including Lyra posting it, but never seen it tried before.
