I have, it doesn't work so well does it?

Re: Zeller or Default?

Actually on the subject of shooting a pistol at 100+ meters.I've done it a bunsh of times, just have to keep the sights on the target and pray that they hit.
Annoying... but fun.

Re: Zeller or Default?

For some reason, sniping with the default snipes is a lot easier. I find my self hitting people in the body mostly if I use the Zeller. Also, with 3 shots and the loud report, the Zeller is basically a musket with a big scope, lol. About 90% of good sniping rounds (for me) come with the default sniper rifles, and 60% of those are with the Park 52, debatably the better of the defaults.

The Park-52 chambers new rounds slightly faster than the Moretti, but reloads the clip slightly slower. The Zeller is umm... big and shiny.

Re: Zeller or Default?

When I have used the Zeller I have required 2 shots to take out a sentry.

If your going for head or body shots the default is better. Same number of hits to kill but more firepower.

If your engageing targets that are engaged by your team then the big bang of a zellar is more likely to cause a single shot kill where many will likely have some damage on them before you take your shot. And even then it can be said that firepower is better than damage per hit.

Re: Zeller or Default?

I actually find I get more headshots with the Zeller. I'm not sure why, is there a difference in the crosshairs?

I believe that the Zoom is greater, which will give you a bigger target.

Re: Zeller or Default?

Actually, the zoom is part of a recon unlock and thus independent of the sniper rifles. Should be the same, but the red lens could help you pick out movement better than the clear lens of the stock rifles. That would differ from person to person though.

I'm pretty sure the Zeller gives you extra zoom.

Re: Zeller or Default?

I find that the Zeller is good for training and that is about it. While the anti-material aspect of the rifle can be useful when placed in the cost/benifit analysis it comes up short against the smaller clip. The default rifles are anti-personel rifles. They are much more useful. You should be aiming for the head. If you get in the habbit of doing this the Zellers extra damage wont really make a difference (to you) but the extra bullets per clip will make a big difference (to your enemy). The default rifles are the only way to snipe. Love them.

Whatever you say dude, (Guardian and me had a little chat about how he's awesome ). All I know is that I like the blue one the most, the red one is cool, and I don't think I've killed anyone with the green one...sort that out, I'm not good with names

Edit:

Yup, you don't want to wait for it to reload and you've already marked them, they're sprinting away, and they're going to go out of sight any second. Your only resort? Get out the pistol and fire like crazy, I think I managed to mark a person like this once, but I didn't get the second finishing shot, but I'm glad that it's an achievement to have just got that one (for me at least).

Re: Zeller or Default?

Any sniper rifle, and I mean ANY sniper rifle takes only one shot to take out a sentry. Simply shoot it, then shoot something else. In a second it will spin (it will still fire) then blow up. You don't have to keep pumping lead into it.

Red is Zeller, (great anti-material, sucks to have only 3 bullets in clip)
Blue is Moretti (best field of vision, loads clip faster than Park-52 and Zeller)
Green is Park-52 (cycles bullets slightly faster than Moretti)

Here's a comparison chart;
http://www.stupidjuice.net/bf2142/bf...2&showall=true
http://www.stupidjuice.net/bf2142/bf...h&showall=true
http://www.stupidjuice.net/bf2142/bf...h&showall=true

According to this chart, the Zeller is pretty much just an anti-material Park-52, with 2 fewer bullets in the clip, and the annoying red sight.

Re: Zeller or Default?

Although the only thing is to keep in mind a lot of people are going around in light armour especially on TG servers. So therefore the 1 shot kill makes it better in that circumstance.

I don't have the Zeller and it will probably be my last unlock as I don't snipe. Although if I did I think on large vehicle maps it might tempt me as a lot of people wear light armour to move from base to base quicker.

Please excuse this advice from a rambling medic who absolutely despises snipers because the kill him too much (dear god Damonte here I come).

Re: Zeller or Default?

It is not one shot one kill. I wear light armor exclusively now. The Zeller takes you down to 10%, the stocks down to 21. That's compared to the 21 and 36 percents when wearing armor.

That statistic is taken from the mistaken idea that light armor offers no protection. It gives 10%, compared to the 30% (iirc) for heavy.

Re: Zeller or Default?

Raz is correct

light = 10% damage reduction
heavy = 30% damage reduction

zeller = 100 damage

therefore non-head shot with zeller puts you down to 10 hp.

with the rifes, a decent sniper will go for head shots, but will take a body shot if need be
a good sniper will get head shots (where the damge difference doesn't make a difference) like raz gives revives, 99% of the time
