    Zeller or Default?

After playing for awhile as recon ('cause that's all I do.) I managed to unlock the Zeller. Personally I love the damn thing because of the extra damage it deals out. But some of my friends prefer the standard rifles over the Zeller.

So here's my question. Is the extra damage worth having two less bullets per magazine? Some people say yes others say no and it confuses the hell out of me.

I'm already kinda bias since I can't seem to put the Zeller down , but I would like to hear your opinions.
300 to 1? No problem. Might need more bullets though...

All I can tell you is that there is another post regarding this. It is fully discussed with pro's and con's by most of the members that use this kit. Do a quick search and read that post. You may not get a lot of responses here for that reason.

    Re: Zeller or Default?

Default by far for me. Zeller is only for big huge maps or if I'm dicking around trying to hit stuff really far away.

They both have their uses, but I'd say the defaults go a lot farther in terms of practicality.

Extra damage means nothing if it still takes two shots to pop someone. If you can headshot everyone in a squad, being able to drop five, then reload, gives you a lot better chance of keeping the whole squad down.

I use the zeller if I'm just laying around trying to pick off people far away and use the default if I'm running along with my squad.

I played with the Zeller for a while, and enjoyed it. Then I went back to the default. In my books, the defaults are better. [Less noise, bigger clip, faster reload time].

I only use the zeller when I'm feeling cocky.

i used the zellar a good bit when i first unlocked it also. Once the nice new shine is gone, you will wonder back to the defaults. They are better, two shots to put guys down if you can't headshot them, no sense in using it otherwise. Occasionally I will equip it though it some guys who I know run around in light armor are playing, one shot takes them down.

forgot to add this, use the search function and you will find a lengthy discussion of the sniper rifles.

As someone who uses light armor almost constantly, this is not true. A Zeller bodyshot will take you down to 10 health, while a default takes you to 21.

Aye, this is true. Thought the same for the longest time, but it doesn't.

    Re: Zeller or Default?

I make a whole lot of kills from finishing of damaged enemies with the Zeller. It's how I prioritize my targets, I see the soldier check his health if I can, and if his is 90% or lower I nail him with a quick body shot, if it's higher than 90% a head shot does the job nicely. That and used to just blast rounds downrange and hope for a hit when iI was useing the stock rifles. The Zeller taught me patience and accuracy is better than the volume of fire I can send downrange (why use 10 bullets when only 1-2 are needed?).

I tried useing the stock rifles for a few games now and it is extremely disconcerting due to a habit of reloading after 3 shots, and being used to the extra damage of the Zeller. Not to say that the stock rifles suck 'cause they don't but I find the extra damage and (strangely enough) the shorter magazine to be better then the slightly faster firing rate and extra two shots of the stock guns.
300 to 1? No problem. Might need more bullets though...

    Re: Zeller or Default?

I prefer the default rifles, but on occasion I'll grab the Zellar if the weather is right. Unless this is me, has anybody ever shot someone and since they didn't want to reload, pull out your pistol and start shooting a hundred or so meters?

    Re: Zeller or Default?

The Zellar is only superior in that it will take out APM/MM/EMP mines as well as RDX with a properly placed shot. They also take out Sentry guns in 1 shot, but the stock rifles do that with 2 shots now so that's hardly an improvement.

I use the Zellar if I'm assaulting an entrenched position on a Titan. Silly Recons love to put 1-2 RDX around and you can snipe those easily negating them. Much harder when you fill the ceiling and sucker an entire squad into your explosive grasp. ^_^ Also its always a blast when you snipe an APM at the feet of someone thereby killing them with the blast.

Zeller for anti-asset (asset not meaning CO asset, but deployables on the field that assist you)
    Stock for anti-infantry
My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.

Light, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I had to kill because they ticked me off.

Tarenth is right on the money here, aside from the sentry. Sentries are taken out by one shot, regardless if you're using stock or Zeller.

SKsniper128, check out these two detailed responses regarding usage of rifles in game. The whole thread is worth a read as well.
