Re: Priority Revives

You should have seen one round of Gibraltar I was on The PAC team and we had just taken harbor and a large group of us were to the west of the entrance of Toll station and were getting ready to attack when frag’s and rockets hit the area and about six to eight of us were killed and those who had survived begin the frantic work of reviving those who were down. They got most of use up when the frag’s and rockets came again. In the end I think about four tickets were lost in that area and we abandoned that area for the time being.

Re: Priority Revives

About reviving bodies-here's a guideline for reviving enemies around, when you're the only one capable of reviving.
1 hostile- kill him and revive
2 hostiles- nade and kill, or shoot them and revive.
3 hostiles+: Run like hell. You should revive SL's but when there's 3 hostiles camping that body, you don't give them your ticket. It's bad enough that they got the SL's.

Re: Priority Revives

The only thing bugging me about this is that some people play for revive points instead of making good revives. I hate being revived when not asking as much as getting revived when under open fire or nading. Reviving on the flag is good though because you can capture the flag anyway then your team will come to help.

If one person with a defib gets away from a hot revive, you've neither gained or lost anything. If you revive the SL and die in the process, you've gained a spawnpoint. If the reviver gets downed three feet closer to cover than the revivee's body, they've gained three feet. The revivee can return, revive the reviver, and both can press their way forward in a die/revive cycle. Reviving through rocket fire is dangerous and probably wasteful, but reviving through gunfire is very often worth it, especially in a chaotic area.

In general, yes, clearing the revive area is a good idea. However, in many cases its simply not possible, so going for a revive under fire is the best option.

Re: Priority Revives

Good point. Also, if you're SL is up, try and look for other SLs, as they can provide much needed back up quickly if that squad is down.

If you're really slick (you're being the general "you" and not a specific "you"), you can do a drive-by revive, without even stopping. Works wonders in hot areas, and sometimes you can even get three bodies up in two or three runs across a hot area, without dying yourself.

Re: Priority Revives

Indeed, I do this very often. The diving revive is silly and will most likely get you killed. The crouch revive, while simply, forces you to stop. Learn how to revive on the run.

As an anecdote, if you see someone else running for a revive, do not go for it. In all likelihood, you'll push the other off the target, causing him, and you, to miss the revive. Don't play for points.

Re: Priority Revives

I just want to revive this post

today I heard you have to clear the area before you revive, to me that is just madness, it is almost always better to revive than to kill, if nothing else, if the guy doesnt get up and avoid bullets, you have gained some time, especially if there is more than one guy down, and there is always gaps in grenades, in rockets, in anything that you can get through, except if its an apc, then I would refrain from open field revives

Re: Priority Revives

By clear, I usually see it as making sure the person you are reviving isn't going to die immediately. With rockets you can wait for the space of the reload, then go for the revive.

Re: Priority Revives

The Revive Tree as I see it

YOUR SL. (FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST!)
Other SLs.
Squadmates
Everyone else.

The reason why it's important to revive other SLs is that they are your ticket to reinforcements. The SL is the most convienent spawn point possible, and friendly SLs are like your personal reinforcements.

Re: Priority Revives

One time I always revive when enemy is in my face is when I am out of ammo. Situation is I go in to clean out the baddies, run out of ammo. Rather than wait to reload I pull out the defib and of course then see another baddie coming. By the time I switch back to gun and reload I am dead, so I revive, hoping revivee has ammo in gun, the baddie has two targets to choose from and one of us may live through it. It has actually worked many times. Worse case I run at the baddie with the defib hoping for the lucky kill after I revive, buying a few moments for the revivee to finish the job and get me up.

Some folks may argue I should have reloaded first, then revive, but in a hot area, I want to get the guy up and get out of there asap to regroup and maybe shoot around a corner rather than from in the open. I most often use this in central with all those nooks and crannies for bad guys.

Re: Priority Revives

Or grab the kit of the fallen comrade. If he does have any bullets it's faster then reloading.

But still considerably slower than getting the revive.

Re: Priority Revives

Most of the time I can't tell which body is my SL, so I just revive whatever is near me. DICE picked pretty much the worst coloration, size, and font for floating names, I can't see them for **** when I'm up close and they're moving around a lot.
