Re: Hold Spawn
Especially on Gibraltar or Cerbere, there is nothing more devastating than 3 squad leaders in one vehicle, going toward one flag. Basically a total of 18 people can hit a back flag!

Re: Hold Spawn
I'm pretty particular about people holding their spawn. The first time they come in when I tell them not to, it's a smart-ass warning. 2nd time is a threat of being kicked from the squad, and 3rd is said kicking. I'm a firm believer of hitting flags with all I got, but when 1-2 people are doing their own thing at some other flag that I never intended on going to, for example if I'm going to Church on Carebear and they somehow think it's better to engage in the rocket fest that is Office Ruins, someone's leaving the squad ASAP.

Re: Hold Spawn
When I first joined TG, I had no idea about holding spawn. When I read a post on it similar to this one (which was already ancient when I brought it back from a dusty grave) the concept hit my brain like a lightning bolt. Duh. It makes so much sense, why didn't I think of it before?
So have a little patience with names you don't recognize, and try to explain what you want from them in plain terms. I'm not that far from the noob I was.

Re: Hold Spawn
As mentioned previously, in this post and older ones, educate the players that don't know what it means to hold spawn or can't comprehend it. Those that argue or refuse to hold their spawn, spawn anywhere other than where you request, or argue about how holding spawn is dumb, etc, kick them from the squad. If they rejoin your squad watch them and see if they are now more compliant. If they still don't follow your orders, kick them again from the squad and report the player via chat. Now, if they don't realize they've been kicked from the squad guess what? They'll get kicked from the server for not joining a squad, which is educational all on its own.

Re: Hold Spawn
Most of the time you can tell the TG players from non-TG players, even if not told to hold spawn we do automatically. The squad bomb is a gold standard of TG.
Non-TG / New TG need to be educated in our ways. Tell them to deselect all spawn points including the squad leader especially when changing kits while the game is running. And remember even the best TG player can have an OOPS moment (drinking can greatly contribute to this confusion).

Re: Hold Spawn
*agrees for the drinking part*
The only thing I found that works to set the premature spawners straight is to kick them out of the squad after one or two warnings. Usually they will hold when they come back in the squad.

Re: Hold Spawn
Oh, the atrocity that is the three wasted tickets of a blown-up full FAV...
Don't do it. In fact, most often the FAV doesn't need a gunner either. That machine gun is possibly the most inaccurate mounted weapon in the game, does barely any damage to anything other than other FAVs, and overheats REAL fast. The FAV is there to get from point A to point B, C, and D REALLY FAST. And to do that, it needs only ONE person in it. The driver.

Re: Hold Spawn
woah woah, what is this madness with the fav gun being bad, it is as good as a fully charged support gun immediately (kills in no time) and should not overheat as it is basically the user's choice to make it overheat
the biggest problem that happens when two buggies come to one flag is all of one squad gets out while one guy stays in the buggy gun and the majority of the squad gets out on the other team. The buggy gun is absolutely devestating, especially close quarters with infantry. I held off two buggy rushes to power the other day just by jumping in their jeep and mowing them all down. So...if you come in as a SM, jump back into the buggy and hit f2. Also, for shooting favs, if they're facing you, just hit the gunner seat/driver, much easier.
I agree with 3 tickets from one squad is a waste because only SL's should get into buggies, there is absolutely no reason for SM's to spawn.
Finally, some people actually wait for being called in, do not do that, use judgement, basically as soon as it is green out of the buggy, hit spawn or done. I actually take it a step farther and even for cloak runs I will come in when I deem it necessary, generally past the first wave and in cover. Why? Because most SL's try to have an epic run and will call for help too late.

Re: Hold Spawn
There are times I’m the last unspawned in a squad patiently waiting for the “Simon says” spawn. Though if the SQL has reach the objective, I’ll spawn (the SQL might have other thing on their mind and talking can get them killed).

Re: Hold Spawn
Yessir they can! I had a particularly bad case of the spastic spawns about a week ago playing in Guardianx11x's squad. On Cerebere, I accidentally spawned three freakin' times in one round while we were supposed to be holding. Now I will say that one of the times I had been killed, I was obediently sitting on the map screen waiting when I heard "Clear!" and the view on my screen shifted. "Sweet! I was revived!" So I quick hit 'Enter' to clear the screen and play on, but nope, it wasn't me getting revved, and my body must have gotten bumped or something by whomever was revived right next to me. Next thing I know I'm sitting in the FAV with Guardian, who of course properly berated and ridiculed me!
The other two goofs were due completely to me not paying attention to what I was doing.
And yes, three bottles of beer that night contributed to my impaired abilities.|TG-55| Infantry Division - Captain

Re: Hold Spawn
No problems at all with holding spawn. Some horror stories though.
-I finally get into a squad where the SL is someone whom I have been curious to see in action for a while and finally snuck in when it was unlocked and had a slot. I hold spawn, and I am switched to the other team(and I thought autobalance was off). (curses)
-Gibralter, a pub says hold spawn, goes recon and literally walks from pac ucb to maybe halfway to toll, dies, says continue hold, happens again, continue hold, manages to get to toll, by that point some of the squad joined at harbor rather than wait and hold on sl and sl started screeching, died, and blamed those squaddies for his dying. I left the squad. You had to be there for the beyond ludicrous.
Just remember, I am totally hooked on hold spawn, but I found those stories amusing after the fact.
