Seriously though, the pilum has a very high moving deviation, but is extremely accurate if you let your crosshairs rest to their default position before using the sights. That means if you stop for a second, crouch, then fire off a shot you'll be a lot more accurate than if you were still moving, went prone (remember prone throws your crosshairs at their widest then bring them in), or fired with only a brief pause. I think my furthest kill was someone at 160 yards running down the road. Got lucky though because they shifted slightly to evade and I clipped them with the shot deviation at that range.

On that note. Pilum kills rock. Its an automatic ticket loss for the other team since all pilum kills are unrevivable just like kills with the AV turret gun (best 'sniper' gun in the game is the turret I say). I believe you can be brought back from a kill with the default rockets though. That...and you get a really cool blue EMPish explosion that sends the body flying.
What?! I must have not noticed about deviation changes because there is no animation on the sights/crosshair (circles, actually). In my experience, it hasn't been accurate at all and usually fires anywhere within the large circle... I will experiment with crouching and waiting for a bit to see if it really becomes super-accurate. This is interesting info. I thought the pillum just had accuracy issues but as it turns out I've just not taken sights being off because of running/going prone just prior to firing.

Re: Pilium

If you put your target into the scoped in circle, and it completely fills the circle, you will not miss. That said, the pilum could not be described as accurate by any bending of definitions.

Re: Pilium

Accuracy has not been an issue with me when using this. Hitting moving targets iusually just requires that you remember the "projectile" is slow moving and you need to lead the target a bit more. Stationary targets are no problem at all, if I can see it the I can usually hit it. Mind you, if you look at my stats there are a lot of misses....I like shooting at the gunships and transports.

Re: Pilium

With any movement side to side which includes fast movement of the weapon itself (you do get aiming deviation when you swing a weapon around) then the larger circle is a good bet of where you're going to hit. If you keep it stationary for a second and adjust your aim slowly without exagerated movements then the center of the smaller circle is where the shot will land.

Check out the clips in the other thread I posted to see some rather jaw dropping shots with the Pilum. When he snipes the rear of a moving tank, a moving FAV, or a gunship in flight at 100+ yards then you get an idea of how accurate it can be in skilled hands.

Abso-freakin'-lutely! Though I also enjoy using it as a shotgun. The resulting body acrobatics are just as amusing up close.

Re: Pilium

Another thing to point out is that the default AV weapons are better at taking out air vehicles than the pilum (as they are guided). That is assuming you aren't using the SAAW of course

Also, I've heard this but I am not sure if it is fact or rumor- Can an FAV on full speed boost outrun a default AV weapon round?
