Re: What is a Good Squad Member?
If you need some info on cheap but decent quality headsets, just searching the hardware forums can bring up some good results.
I have a £17 Sennheiser headset, very cheap, good quality and well worth the money. A microphone adds so much to squadplay it's unbelievable, I once played at my cousin's house not too long ago, I was doing well because he had a good PC, but not being able to communicate was so frustrating. After you start using a mic you'll realise how handicapped you were before.Last edited by SharinganTH1422; 10-25-2009 at 08:58 PM.

Playing BF2142 as:
-{SXGr}- J0KerRr
-{SXGr}- x^DeTeR
I'm always open for tips, tutorials and training in the gunship while online, just ask :)
Currently taking a break from MW2, but when I play its as:
eXileD// DeTeR
Even if you don't consider that I only have 7 days played in the gunship I'm one of the best pilots in the game
I will always accept a 1v1, friendly or not

Re: What is a Good Squad Member?
Advice: stop thinking about it... try it!!
You really don’t need quality gear for this. You just grab a mic (anything will do) and try it. Go to any RadioShack, Walmart, CanadianTire, DrugMart (you get the idea) and get the dirt sheapest mic you can find. $5 should do it and you’ll be good to go :¬) Or borrow your dad/roomate/brother/grandma’s mic if you know there is one gathering dust somewhere.
Because of the (ultra)compressed signal sent to your mates, even the mic inside your telephone would do this easily (or the mic on your webcam if you have one).
If you read this thread, maybe you are looking for ways to be (or inprove your skills as) a good squad member. And believe me communication is very important to achieve this... And the best way to communicate is with a microphone.
So no more thinking about it... DO IT!! :¬)
Power to the pwnies!

Re: What is a Good Squad Member?
Inform your SL before the round starts that you do not have a mic. This will give the SL a head's up and the other SM's will also pay a little more attention to the chat. Also, use the "q" spot command and spot, spot, spot. The in-game commands can do much of the needed communication for you. A mic is much better, but until then....use the ingame commands.
