GHOST DS-22 Sniper Decoy

In accordance with finding ways to use recon more in my squads, does anyone know through testing what the range on the Sniper Decoy is? Also, what are the extent of its powers?

I've heard that a turret plunked down by a support will target the decoy BEFORE the recon.

Will it thwart visual netbat spotting?

Re: GHOST DS-22 Sniper Decoy

It is a 60m radius I believe.

It thwarts all forms of spotting, as long as you are within 60m of the decoy. Once you past that, you can be spotted by any means.

Additionally, with the decoy down, you don't have to worry about getting a diamond from a support while cloaking/decloaking when within range. I'm not certain if the decoy gets the diamond or not though, cannot remember.

The Ghost is such a dirty unlock when a SL can use it well. Can't say how many times I've gotten a flag or good position while using it.

Question. If you deploy the Beacon and then get resupplied with another one, can you move and then deploy another just as you get to the 60m point? Now using the secodn one for better positioning.

You can indeed do this, as soon as you deploy the new beacon, the old one poofs out of existence.

Will it thwart visual netbat spotting?

The last time I saw a recon using this decoy I tried to "spot" him, as others around me did also, but the diamond kept moving around and giving false readings (possible this was due to multi spotting?!?!).

It is a 60m radius I believe.

Not too sure about the range though......I hunted him down like a dog and filled him full of lead!
I think that may be a 60m diameter (30m radius) (Not certain 'bout this one)

One thing to remember: the gun drone and sentry gun will still lock onto and shred a recon, cloaked or otherwise, regardless of whether a decoy has been deployed or not.

I love this dirty little unlock

Ghost = my squad past crossroads on Berlin

one thing is that the decoy is destroyed very easily but after you exit the range of the decoy it still acts as a false spot i.e. its like having one of my squad lemmings stay there as a recon so the rest of the squad can make the magic happen

I like using this quite a bit. I can't remember the radius though. I usually dropping it and running like hell to past something.

I truly love this unlock. People are so used to their IDS catching everything that a cloaked SL can literally walk right by them almost brushing elbows.

I have to admit to running recon more when I squad lead on a PAC map that starts under bleed (Berlin, Gibraltar, Cerbere). Once the bleed is stopped and we start gaining momentum, I usually swap out to assault.

Aye, exactly how to do it. People will be less likely to see you if you can get right next to them. On the other half of it, they will hear the annoying buzzing noise. My best recon runs have happened while going through a friendly OS at the beginning of a round.

I do this as well. The only gotcha is when you get EMPed by the CO, which truly sucks.

Re: GHOST DS-22 Sniper Decoy

It's funny if that happens to the enemy though. They light up like a christmas tree (with all the appropriate colors too). When I first saw that happen in game I thought it was a wierd bug or something.

funny, this is how i got my very first distinguished combat efficiency, before teh days of |TG|

i was the pac commander, and i orby'd harbour then ran through with a shotgun and did what i (now) do best!

i dont know much about the unlock, my friend told me he saw a recon and he tried to shoot it but it didnt die, he thought it was hacks, because the real recon was headshotting everyone around him and he though it was the decoy.

Your friend most likely had bad aim if he could actually see the recon soldier. If he just saw the radar blip and the red dimond then yea it would be the decoy.
