Clark RDX
I've found myself toying with this a lot recently. I haven't permanently unlocked it yet, but I've messed with it a good bit as a field upgrade. I've been having fun with it, but I'm not quite convinced it's a practical unlock. It gives me some range when I use the shotgun, but I've only gotten a handful of kills with it in the couple of rounds I played with it (4 kills, about). What are everyone's thoughts on this? I've read that it does no damage to vehicles (with the exception of the FAV), but is this true even for the underside of a walker which even pistol rounds can damage? I have a blast (no pun intended) when I mess with it, but I'm still not convinced I should unlock it for practicality reasons. Thoughts?

Re: Clark RDX
Looking at your toon IMO no, it would be a bad thing to do, theres a lot of other things you need badly that will add a lot to your game.
What I would sudgest you get first is get what ever needed to get assuslt - defib then rockets then after that you can go for eng - motion mines mabey plium then get your extra gernade, shock boots. You can not always play a support some times you will need to play assuslt or eng and that would let you cover the bases the quickest to get the important things.

So on my other soldier I have a lot of other goodies unlocked since I'm a good number of ranks above this one. I usually receive a field upgrade within a few minutes of playing so I can unlock the defib, but the engineer tree is tempting. Quick off topic question: How much do the shock absorber boots reduce fall damage by? Last edited by Xovak; 02-17-2008 at 01:19 AM. Reason: Premature post |

Re: Clark RDX
The fall damage reduction is somewhat negligible compared to the secondary ability of increasing your stamina regeneration. Odds are you'll never notice fall damage if you're fast with your parashute.
As for the Clark RDX, its fun and its like having hard to aim and guide rockets for the support class. They will do damage to armor, but the damage is somewhat laughable for an RDX (1-5 damage per explosion). Its great on titans though, especially since the explosion cuts through cover and IPS unlike rockets which get eaten or fail to explode under 20 yards.

Yeah, it was kind of fun playing the trajectory game with the RDX shotty. It was like playing that old BASIC game "Bananas" or "Gorillas" where you had to give an angle in degrees and try to hit the other player. I'm glad the RDX does at least some damage to armor -- as long as it helps, no matter how much. Even if it's enough to just annoy them. I planned on getting the boots, but now that I know that it has extra effect to them, I'm going to try faster for them. I also want to unlock the full Squad Leader tree for a faster respawn -- seems pretty helpful. |

Re: Clark RDX
Faster spawns means faster death means faster ticket loss. Its not really a good idea on Conquest servers, but for Titan its handy to have faster redeployment.

Re: Clark RDX
There are many discussions onthis weapon, Tarenth is correct about other unlocks being priority. If you could use the grenade launcher in BF2 or BHD, then you can effectively use this weapon. I get quite a few kills with it, I have cleared flags with it, slowed advancing squads so the rest of my squad can engage them. My favorite saying in game is "It's raining RDX". Itis a situational weapon and most who do not like it, just don't use it properly. The same with rockets, many people hate them until they learn to use them. Crux is very good with this weapon, far better than I.
As for the vehicles, although the damage is low I did manage to get credit for killing a walker with the Clark-RDX. I laughed so hard that I was killed for just standing in the open!

Re: Clark RDX
I went for the engineer tree first too, I was surprised at how accurate the smudge is.
Anyway, on clark RDX, I'd say that if you're support on a titan, bring it to blow up the consoles, from what I've seen it only takes 4 to blow them, and you can resupply yourself. |

Re: Clark RDX
You absolutely have to get defib unlocked. As others have said, it is the single most important unlock in the entire game. Every revive you get is one ticket your team doesn't lose. Most of the kills you get end up in revives.

Re: Clark RDX
The defibs aren't on the support tree so if he plays with his brother and takes the support role to his assault the defibs won't do him much good.
The support kit has a lot of fun toys to it that makes it one of the most versitile kits in the game. While the clark RDX is fun and handy at times, the EMP grenades, Sentry Gun, and IDS (infantry detection sonar) are infinately more useful. After that would come the IPS which is handy probably only on titan play and the pulse scanner which gets outclassed by the Otus SL drone and IDS for the most part.

![]() Back on topic, though: I managed to get quite a few kills on the infantry based maps like Gibralter with the RDX attachment, but I think I'll save the unlock for a later time. For now, I can field upgrade it when I want it. Thanks again for all of the advice and opinions! |

Re: Clark RDX
I personally favor the Pulse Scanner in areas where the IDS doesn't reach. it gives you a reading on where they are, and how far away, and if they're in a building, how high are they. I always keep EMPs with me, as I need them to give my squad time to run away from a vehicle that's tracking us. Clark RDX is so bad IMO, that I get so ashamed when I get killed by it.
