The John Rambo Guide to 2142
![]() I've heard it said before: Stop being such a Rambo. "Ramboing" is practically a verb to describe 'going it alone', lone-wolfing, and a general aversion to team play. We must put a stop to this! There is much we can learn from Rambo that would make us ALL better players for TG. 1. Pick Your Battles Remember that time in the movies, when Rambo charged into a pack of armed soldiers holding just his knife hoping to get a tag and got shot and killed? Oh that's right, it never happened. Rambo may be outnumbered at times, but he is never outmatched. We know this because Rambo is still alive. Rambo never throws his life away through careless play trying to get on top of the leaderboard, or heaven forbid get someone's tags. Sadly I see TG players do both of these things all the time. Instead we know that Rambo is patient. When outnumbered, he will cover himself with mud and wait until the enemy line has passed him by. Then he will strike when he has a chance to have an impact, and relocate! We may not have mud, but we do have rocks, buildings, water and other wonderful hiding places. Don't be afraid to use cover! Don't be afraid to not attack those 2 squads all by yourself. Bide your time. Be more like Rambo. Know when to attack and when to fall back. When you stay alive, you give your team and yourself a fighting chance to make a difference. Remember Rambo never gives up. He just waits until he is in a situation to win and then strikes without mercy! 2. Never Leave A Man Behind ![]() Rambo knows the value of his fellow soldiers. In First Blood: Part II, Rambo is sent in to Vietnam to take photos of some POWs still held in prison camps. But Rambo is a team player. With the help of his trusty Vietnamese girlfriend, Rambo breaks them out. When his girlfriend is shot, he rushes to her like a good teammate. Unfortunately Rambo was playing Support, and his girlfriend was carrying a Recon kit, but you can bet if he'd had a defib he would have revived! 3. Shoot Your Enemy In The Back ![]() Just because you're using an assault kit or a support kit doesn't mean you have to run around like an idiot charging into groups of enemies head first. Recons do not have a monopoly on sneakiness! Whenever possible, ALWAYS try to shoot your enemy in the back or in the side. Surprise is a force multiplier. It can make one soldier worth 2 or 3. Take the poor, unsuspecting asian terrorist guy in the picture above. He has no clue he's about to get his ass kicked. I bet his buddies are clueless too. As such, he has no chance. This is war. Your job isn't to give your enemy a fighting chance. It is to kill them. If they could, they'd do the same to you. 4. Practice, Practice, Practice ![]() Rambo wasn't born a badass. Ok that's a lie. He was. BUT, he became the ultimate badass through training. We don't have a special forces training program for BF2142 players. But, there is nothing stopping you from training yourself. You can practice your marksmanship. Your grenade throwing. Your rocket fire. Your defibbing. You can work on mine placement, APM placement. Movement. There is very little you couldn't do to improve yourself as a player. Rambo did it. So can you! 5. Be A Team Player Rambo isn't ashamed to ask for help. In both First Blood Part II AND Rambo III, he goes into his mission as a part of a squad. It may be a small squad, and it might well be locked. But it is still a squad. Rambo doesn't believe in tying up more of his team's resources than needed to do the job. But note that he has people fill different needs for his mission. Everyone has a role, even if that role is just to come along and get killed in order to make Rambo mad so he can destroy creation. It's still a role. So learn from Rambo folks. Be a team player. And the next time you call someone a "Rambo" in the TG server, make it a compliment!

Re: The John Rambo Guide to 2142
So I should now see all the Rambo movies to understand how better to play bf2142? Man, I knew I was outta the loop. First it's Chuck Norris flicks and now it's Rambo. I have days of video to watch before I even begin to practice! Great write up Crux
