The Game of Wolf and Sheep - UAV & Otus & IDS
You enter the game as Sheep with your herd - the Squad
![]() >>> When there is no UAV or Recon/Otus Combo or multi IDS coverage up you are a Sheep. Stay with your herd. Stay close in the protecting range of everyones defib. Look for cover and take cover. Advance slowly if you move and cover each others back. Your stance is defensive. Your priority is to stay alive and keep your mother sheep alive. ![]() >>> As soon as UAV gets up or a working Recon/Otus combo goes online or multiple IDS coverage you turn into a Wolf. You now have the hunting eyes. Check your minimap for targets. Losen up your pack formation and you may even seperate from your squad a bit. Check the minimap for flanking paths. Hunt the enemy down. Use your mind to get them into crossfire situations. Your stance is offensive. Your priority is to gain ground and hunt the enemy down. Still keep your pack leader alive but since you have all combat information around you the whole area that is whithin around 10 seconds of your SL is your hunting ground. But beware.... as soon as you lose our UAV, Otus/Recon Combo or multiple IDS coverage you turn back into a Sheep faster than you like. Sheep VS Sheep Teamwork, quick Communication about the events around you and Gun Skills decide who wins this battle. Wolf VS Sheep The Wolf pack should eat up the poor Sheep quickly by using the terrain and their knowledge to their advantage. As sheep aim for time. Maybe in a few seconds you will turn into wolves to even the Battlefield. Even if you go down - keeping the Wolves busy as long as possible might enable someone else to gain an advantage Wolf VS Wolf Everyone sees everyone. It gets a game of mind. Outposition the others and think faster than they do. Your skill with indirect fire weapons will give you the edge. >>> Learn to shift between those two stances dynamically and adjust your movement and your mind to them. How to be a Wolf: UAV: A good SL to CO communication can help the CO judge where to use the UAV. While UAV is down a few key spots from your CO can really brighten up the day of a sheep. Otus / Recon combo: An otus drone coupled with a Recon with active Netbat helmet unlock will show you enemy soldiers on your minimap. It is like your own personal small UAV. Sometimes a Beacon is nice and sometimes the Accipiter for fooling around but this is my combo of choice. Even if you are a Squadmember please take the time and equip a drone. IDS & Misc: An IDS by itself gives a very small coverage but placed at the right spot it is a deathtrap for the enemies. Sometimes multiple Squads will have whole areas "mined" out with IDS. Personal Note: I for myself am a totally different player with UAV or Otus/Recon over my head than without. With UAV and Otus coverage I can smoke out many people with indirect fire of Rockets and Grenades or flank whole Squads. When there is no UAV or Netbat whatsoever I turtle around from a distance and behind cover.

Nice post Lyra.
If you use a radar grenade, does that make you a turkey? ![]() What if you are relentlessly spamming EMP grenades? Skunk? ![]()

Re: The Game of Wolf and Sheep - UAV & Otus & IDS
I like being a wolf, it is exhilarating. When wolfing with a Clark, I modify the wolf strategy into the hawk strategy. The support doesn't have plentify health but trades that for perfect intel. So what is this hawk strategy?
Pay attention to everything: don't shoot, don't worry about your score, just keep your eyes peeled on the map and be sure you fully understand every push of 2-3 people on the server. Focus and stay calm: you do not need to assault always. Focus on the map, understand what the other team is doing, find something you can exploit. Then swoop in. Strike with lightning speed, mow down four to six infantry, then quickly run away like a little girl. Fall back, heal up, resupply your IDS, reload your clips, and examine the map again. Then move in again. Mow down your targets, throw grenades on their corpses, and then fall back to your medpack in safe territory. Rinse, repeat. Look for people doing something stupid, and then punish them. Move in with lightning speed, do not sit still, strike for their heart. Do not get greedy: know your mission, accomplish it, and fall back. Getting greedy defeats the point of a hawk. A hawk cannot stay and fight with a rabbit: it swoops in, lifts it off the ground, and runs away. Greediness destroys the hawk: it cannot lift four rabbits at once. Know what your mission is ahead of time and when you are done, fall back. I suppose the crux of the issue is self-confidence: know when to strike, but when you are right, when the time is right, go in like you own the place.
