Re: stratergy for collector's pin ?
300 to 1? No problem. Might need more bullets though...

Re: stratergy for collector's pin ?
IMO if you want the pin then you need to knife a whole squad, who are focused ahead and not looking back.
Here's the hint that'll get you there.

Re: stratergy for collector's pin ?
I got mine by going on a knife server, sad, but true, I have to admit it. I'm not good enough to get that many knife kills in open play, and it's way easier. I just got my badges and a few pins to boot in 2 rounds and then left the knife servers, although I did occasionally pop in now and then.
However, whenever I do go in, I only go into a knife server where the rules are not being followed. Why? Because then you get to practice your knife skills against 2 types of people.
Firstly, there will obviously be the people not following the rules, this helps you to learn how to dispatch enemies with guns better. There's nothing better than knifing a guy who thinks he's got the upper hand with his gun, you maneuver and then he's left thinking, "damn, I just got caponed".
Then there are the type of people who are looking for a decent knife server but can't find one. They want to do knives only, and by playing against these guys, you then learn how to dispatch enemies when you're in a knife only fight.
This way you learn the 2 main ways of fighting with the knife, but also, you just get better with the knife all round. Now, when a guy has his back to you, you don't have any hesitation about pulling your knife, You know you can, and will get his tag, simple as that.
That's how I do it at least, although this was before I found TG (if memory serves...?), and really, I wouldn't go into a knife server any more with my TG tag on, if at all. I suggest finding a 16 player CampG server (probably infantry only), then try and go recon (camo and sniper decoy) or support, (IDS and Pulse meter) (- so recon = stealth, while support = knowing where people are, whichever you find more useful) and see what you can do, but also, big servers are pretty good as well, as everyone's more packed in together and you get more chances probably to knife (similar size to TG server, but try it out on a different one). My crazy knifing friend also sits in titan corridors when defending. Puts an IDS on the door, and watches the person come and times the knife to perfection (he does it so damn much he knows how to time it like that). The only reason he hasn't joined TG is because he is completely against everything we stand for (maturity, not cheating, not running around with knives, not exploiting weaknesses in the engine, not TKing for the gunship, not bunnyhopping, not camping etc.).Anger is a gift - Malcolm X

Re: stratergy for collector's pin ?
I played on a knife server.
I think 90% of my slashes hit, make a sound, but do nothing. Then a guy knifes me from 10 feet away.

Re: stratergy for collector's pin ?
I got my collector's pin on a knife server, so it was easy for me. One way I've gotten it on a normal server is to join a server that always does titan, and has more pubbies than house clan members, (got mine alot on DIG's Titan server), and stalk your titan once shields go down and go for knifes. If you go to corriders 1 and 2, very few people actually check behind them as they run into the console, I got mine by camping there with a knife, and running up and knifing the last person in from behind, and shooting down the rest. They never learned to look behind them, probably figured I came down from the catwalks or something.

Re: stratergy for collector's pin ?
From what I understand, the problem is that someone has to screenshot it and then turn them in. Occasionally, about as often as the game is patched, they actually investigate it.
So true, this is why I absolutely hate the knife mechanics in this game. No way someone should be able to knife you as far away as this game allows. This is one of the reasons I started play support with the shotgun, its a really good site to see a knifer's head fly back from the shotgun blast! Then for a final "I got you" type into the main chat and tell him not to bring a knife to a gun fight!

Re: stratergy for collector's pin ?
On the plus side, I got banned from two knife servers

On one, I was there for three minutes, ran into a guy who started shooting me with the Voss so I pistoled his ass down. Then he bans me for 'using guns'. Got banned from the second one for complaining when the admin let his clan buddies start throwing grenades and using RDX.

As entertaining as that is, I found that playing on a knife server lets you get ranks stupidly fast. The 20 point collector's pin boosts really help.

Re: stratergy for collector's pin ?
Meh when I see a gazillion of points somebody has, I check his commander time and it's like " 2000h huh? I get it... meh"
A good commander is a valuable asset for a team, but, so far, haven't seen any notable good commanders...On the other hand I have seen SO MUCH good SLs ...It is art when you kill one person... and terrorize a hundred.
